Greetings friends!
Mr. Manmohan Singh (26 September 1932 – 26 December 2024) was Prime Minister of India from 2004 to 2014. He was 92 years old and died in a hospital after a prolonged bad health condition on 26th of this month. He was the Minister of Finance during PM Narsimha Rao's regime when India was in a great financial crisis. In that time India had closed economy. He designed a framework which is still being followed in India. Under the pressure of IMF, India had to opened its markets for global players. It resulted in compounding growth of India. He took risk of being sidelines by the ruling party as he had to deviate from its policies right from the time when India got freedom in 1947. Thus he saved the nation when it was under crisis.
He became prime minister later and saved the country from the world economic crisis of 2008 originated from the sub prime crisis of the USA. He was an economist and and a great scholar. He had a great knowledge of economics. He was criticised by the opposition during his tenure as PM of the nations for alleged corruption. But, in most of the cases all the accused acquitted by the courts. Hence, it would be a great injustice towards him to frame him as the silent onlooker of corruption.
His government was never in the full majority. So, He had to compromise in some occasions but it doesn't mean that he was an incapable person. No one can blame him for corruption. He was a soft spoken and hard working person. He deserves much praise which he could not get during his second tenure as the PM of India.
In India he initiated and framed many schemes like MNREGA (Rural employment guarantee scheme), Right to information act, Right to education act and so many which present government is employing after changing the names of the schemes. His death is a great loss to the nation. His contribution for the betterment of India will be remembered in history with a great applause.
May his soul rest in peace!
