Celebrating the Chinese New Year is always a special occasion, and what better way to welcome the festivities than by heading to the mall to relax? With dazzling decorations, delicious food, and ample entertainment, it’s the perfect place to immerse ourselves in the spirit of the holiday. So my partner and I decided to unwind and celebrate the occasion.
Our day began with a serene yet picturesque journey on the train. As we stepped onto the platform, the urban architecture of the station contrasted sharply with the vibrant atmosphere that awaited us at the mall. Anticipation built as we made our way toward the bustling heart of the city, eager to immerse ourselves in the Chinese New Year festivities.
Upon arriving at the mall, we were met with a breathtaking sight with dozens of vibrant red lanterns suspended in the air, casting a warm and festive glow throughout the space. The grand decorations, shimmering golden accents, and twinkling fairy lights created an enchanting scene that perfectly captured the spirit of the holiday. Each step through the mall felt like walking through a traditional celebration infused with modern elegance.
As we ventured further, another magnificent display of red lanterns adorned the mall’s central area, forming an intricate arrangement of cascading lights. The dazzling aesthetic fostered a sense of unity and joy among shoppers and visitors alike. The festive music playing softly in the background further enhanced the celebratory atmosphere, making every moment feel special and culturally rich.
The highlight of our visit was witnessing a captivating dragon dance performance. A team of skilled performers dressed in vibrant red and gold costumes carried the intricately designed dragon, bringing it to life with synchronized movements. The dragon swayed and twisted, mimicking the powerful and graceful motions of the legendary creature, while the rhythmic beat of drums echoed throughout the mall. The crowd, mesmerized by the spectacle, gathered around to capture the moment, their faces illuminated with excitement and admiration.
After watching the dragon dance, we made a peaceful visit to the Chapel of Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary. Amidst the bustling mall environment, this serene chapel stood as a sanctuary for quiet prayer and reflection. Taking a moment to offer our intentions and express gratitude for the new year felt truly meaningful. With the image of Our Lady gracing the center, surrounded by soft candlelight and floral arrangements, the chapel provided a beautiful contrast to the energetic celebrations taking place elsewhere in the mall.
After our spiritual pause, we headed straight for a comforting meal at the nearest Ramen Stall. Although it was Chinese New Year, we couldn’t resist the allure of a steaming bowl of tonkotsu ramen paired with crispy gyoza. The rich, creamy broth, thin noodles, and perfectly tender chashu melted in our mouths, while the gyoza added a satisfying crunch with its savory filling. It was the ideal meal to warm our souls after wandering around the mall and soaking in the vibrant decorations and cultural performances.

Our next stop was the arcade, a place where the fun never ceases. As we entered, we were welcomed by the familiar sounds of beeping machines, clinking tokens, and the occasional cheer of triumph. Different claw machine games instantly captured our attention. These games, with their vibrant lights and challenging gameplay, were a hit among our group.
We spent hours testing our luck at various games, from classic claw machines to the latest interactive challenges. The basketball hoop game, in particular, was a favorite. It demanded quick reflexes and strategic thinking, and we had a blast competing against one another to see who could score the most. The sense of camaraderie and friendly competition heightened the excitement.
After working up an appetite at the arcade, it was time to savor a delicious meal. A comforting bowl of noodles and siomai was the ideal way to refuel. The rich flavors and warm broth symbolized longevity and prosperity which is perfect for the occasion.
Following the meal, we visit the Chinese New Year displays near the entrance that brought the festivities to life. The vibrant red and gold decorations, dazzling lanterns, and intricate details of the setup created a magical atmosphere. The charming Year of the Snake mascot added a playful touch to the scene, making for a fantastic photo opportunity.
Finally, the evening concluded with a stroll through the beautifully lit displays, admiring the hanging lanterns that illuminated the night. Holding the lanterns up close served as a reminder of hope, warmth, and the promise of a prosperous year ahead.
With hearts full and spirits high, this Chinese New Year celebration was a wonderful way to embrace new beginnings. May this year bring good fortune, happiness, and countless joyful moments.
