Addiction is the continuous inability to abstain from something which leads to negative effects. These could be drugs ,phone or other gadgets, food , could even be a person.
Over the years I was a victim to phone addiction,so on today's blog I'll specifically speak on phone addiction .
Addiction can be caused by the excess release of dopamine in the brain.
Today we live in a world rapidly advancing in technology and you can agree with me that smart phones are one of the best inventions of all time. Phones were first designed for only communication but as technology advance several other features are being added making it feel like a little world held on the palm, it was designed in such a way that the human mind won't want to lose possession of it once held .
These days most people refer to their phones as their best friend and cant be normal if their phones are taken away from them , these is due to the temporary pleasure they derive from the phone making .
Phone addiction is one of the most common addictions in the world today and just like every other form of addiction the victim barely realize that are spending so much time on their phone and might even see it as a normal lifestyle and to some extent ignore it even after the damage caused .
Most time the addict fails to notice that they use their mobile phone excessively and tend to think it's normal so here are some little clues to know a phone addict.
. You find it difficult to carry out your chores at home work or even school.
.People around you such as your loved ones begin to show concern on your constant use of phone
. You barely find it comfortable
and feel like a part of you has been snatched when your phone is not in use and find it hard to associate with people without your phone .
.You find it hard to concentrate whenever your in a class or work or school.
. You spend more time on your phone than with your loved ones, colleagues etc .
Phone addictions have a lot of negative effects such as
. Lack of concentration
. Loneliness or even depression.
. Poor grades.
. Stress.
. Little or no sleep.
. Eye problems due to reflection of rays or lights from the phone .
. Psychological disorder etc.
Most effective ways to prevent phone addiction is by strict self discipline as therapy won't work if the person is not willing to carry out self discipline . Self discipline can be a very difficult process for the addict so loved ones and friends could also be of great assistance as the person may need emotional support during healing process .
Just like every other addiction withdrawal stage, it's not going to be so easy but it needs to be done for our good.
