Memoirmonday contest #24. How I got my first Job.

It another week to share our experience in life. @ericvancewalton. The topic for this week took me down memory lane. Thinking about how I got my first job makes me have goose pimples.

As a lady who have plan and ambition in life this makes me to seek for greener pasture outside my comfort zone.
After my secondary school that was some years back, I traveled to the city of Lagos in Nigeria to seek for greener pasture and fend for myself. Because I wasn't born with a golden spoon and looking at circumstances sorrounding me I just have to make the best use of my time wisely.
Hmmmm I got to Lagos without direction of where am going to or where to start from cause I have no relative or friend there that means I am on my own. The first thing that came to my mind was that if I must survive I need a place to sleep. Though the rate of crime was not that much as at then.
The first safe place I could think of was a worship center. This will be a safe place for me to stay. (Pass the night)
I was fortunate enough to meet good people who let me pass the night in a church after my daily search for job.

I stayed for months searching for a job. Though it frustrating but I have a goal to archieve and I have to endure all the hardship and insult coming out of it. At times there are day I won't eat cause I have no money with me and no one to run to.
Hummmm life really dealt with me.
During one of my search for job, Luckily as God will have it I was oppurtuned to work as a care giver(nanny) in Lagos. This is my first paid job.

I have to take care of a young boy due to the job his parent do. I did my duty deligently without any flaws which mafw me gain favour in my master eyes. I was treated fairly and I was given a place to stay. During my stay with them they are nice to me and I am glad I came across with those people. I was able to save some money and do some things on my own. When I wanted to leave Lagos the boy I took care of didn't want me to live even the family do not want me to go but I explain to them that I have to continue with my studies and combining work with schooling will be a bit difficult for me. Seeing my determination I was able to talk to the smart boy and he understand. After then have been able to secure other jobs but that was my starting point.
Lesson learnt

  1. There is no situation you can't over come no matter how difficult it may look
  2. Patience and endurance is a great gain
  3. Work towards your set goal and you will archive it.
I thank God for where I am today all this experience I had has made me strong and determined in life which has really been helping me up to this moment.
No matter what you might be facing, it might be hard, frustrating and seems it difficult but at the end you will be victorious at the end.

Thanks sir I appreciate

That took a lot of courage to just pick up and move like you did with no plan or a place to stay! It sounds like you learned a lot of valuable lessons from the experience. I'm glad it worked out for you! Thanks for contributing to Memoir Monday this week.
