Ahhhhh.... a weekend away with the family. A glorious prospect and something that makes us proud to accomplish I think.
I think as a kid, my kids, the feeling is that of excitement and when they get there, it shall be excitement and fun.
As the dad... I suppose I am goal and safety driven aren't I? It is my job to manage the safety, security and financial implications of the family's trip. But I am very happy to do my part in this expedition.
Its free accommodation with friends, so that is a massive load off of course. And we are going for someone's birthday celebration.
This friend is on Hive! But I won't spoil the surprise!

A 2 hour drive. We actually need to stop about a quarter of the way there in the wrong direction. Making the map above I realized that I need to factor the de-tour into the trip!
I won't be able to share where we are going yet, since you know... that would be for the Birthday... hehe.
So... I checked it out and while it takes me off my route, the route suggests that I right back to my route after the de-tour. So that's great.
Anyway. I am ATTEMPTING a half day at work today. So let me get my butt to work so I can make sure everything is organized for that to happen.
Look forward to lots of pics and posts of the trip and the destination for the weekend! I need to clear space on my phone...
