Hey everyone! Zak here from Cape Town, South Africa with another Warhammer post! This one is something that I have been meaning to post for a while now and just have not had the opportunity to do so... sort of. There is always just so much to do!
This post is all about the OTHER models that I have received for my Warhammer 40k Grand Imperial Army - Those I got for Christmas and those I got for free as donations to my army!
Christmas Presents
First up is this chap. This is from @xenowolfza who gave this to me with a "Merry Christmas". What is is?
It is the first Adeptus Custodes in my collection, that's what! He is a custom 3D print and has no weapon here but I can easily sort him out with that.
This guy will no doubt become my first Shield-Captain.
The photo does not do it justice but this model has a nice cloak at the back with an Imperial Eagle motif embossed on it. Thank you so much @xenowolfza again for this present! 💪💪💪💪
Next up is this clutch of Primaris Space Marines from my friend Nic. I have bought most of this army from him already, they are his Blood Angels Successor Chapter. He kept these models aside so he could play Kill Team. (Specifically the Heavy Intercessors I believe)
Around Christmas I arrived at his place with some sort of gift from Claire and I to him and Lex and he passed me this box and he said "This is for you." He didn't mention Christmas, but is was just before Christmas... So it counts!
Here we can see that they are Gravis Armor Marines.
So, 10 models in total:
- Custodes Shield Captain
- 5x Heavy Intercessors
- 2x Intercessors
- 2x Assault Intercessors
Donation Batch 1
A friend of mine, Marc contacted me and said that he might have some Marine stuff for me. I have bought bits and pieces of Space Marines from Marc over the years, but he then told me that this would be more of a donation.
So at @swordandboard at a game night, months later, Marc gave me this box and man - It contained some surprises!
Custom Tunderfire Cannon.
This is something that Marc had built himself and he insisted that I keep it because you cannot get Thunderfire Cannons any more and this one does well at representing one.
I can do that... I even have a pretty good idea what to do with it.
Then came the bikes! Three of them are specifically Dark Angels Ravenwing Bikers. I have the very same ones I believe so it will be great to have more to help expand my Ravenwing... once I get to them!
In total there are 15 bikes along with 3x Carraiges to make Attack Bikes! So 12 Bikers, 3 of which are dedicated Ravenwing and 3 Attack Bikes maybe?
These bikes, being First Born bikes are generally not in use any more.
There are two options:
1 - I can use these Bikes to represent their various Legends Datasheets in my big games. I am, after all, happy wit this because I don't mind playing Legends.
2- I could put them on the big oval bases and model them on some terrain so they take up the space of an Outrider and make them "counts as". I have plodded around enough of the internet to know that this is possible.
My answer is:
3 - Why not both? Given enough time, I could do both and have the option for fielding them either way!
And then came the big shocker!
An Imperial Knights Armiger Warglaive! I did their datasheet review about 9 months ago: Warhammer 40k - Unit Review Library 43 - Imperial Knights, Armiger Warglaive
This is... my first Knight! 😲😲😲😲😲😲😲😲😲😲
So awesome!
This is the smaller, lesser Nobles of the Knights houses but just to show you how big he is - even taller than a Ballistus Dreadnought and towering over a Castraferrum Dreadnought!
So this batch had 17 models:
- 1x Thunderfire Cannon
- 15x Bikes including Attack Bike parts
- 1x Armiger Warglaive
Donation Batch 2
Then came another for free lot. Once of the guys posted on the trading group that he has some Space Marine Firstborn odds and ends he wants to get rid of. Free to any of the people who have bought from him in the last year...
I have... there were a couple of rare things he had punted that I sniped....
So I opened the packet of free stuff and found the following:
6x Custom Objective markers. These honestly look pretty cool. one or two of them have some damage but I could fix them and then use them in games or gift them to someone. Nice.
More bikes! There are 5 of them, 3 of which have the Ravenwing parts on them.
There are also more Bike Riders than bikes including an old vintage metal Captain/Sergeant metal model with a Power Sword. I would need to figure out which.... Oh... wow... this is a 2nd Edition Space Marine Biker Sergeant body! Amazing!
Then there is this guy. This is a Converted Space Marine Librarian. He is being held up by his warpflame. A definite Legends character as there is no current Librarian on Bike for Codex Space Marines.
There was this piece of terrain. Add to the bits box...
There was this Age of Sigmar model and a Warhammer Fantasy Battle mini... I could use them for conversions...
Some bits and pieces that can be used to make more full Space Marines. Honestly, most kits just come with so many extra arms and heads and such all you usually need are the legs to make more models. So I can build 2 more Space Marines with this.
The Odd Trio.
Despite him saying this was a batch of random Firstborn... 1x Primaris Intercessor, 1x Space Marine with Missile Launcher, 1x Assault Marine.
There is also this trio of Chaos Space Marines. I could feasibly convert them into Space Marines with a bit of conversion.
Then there is this... 2x Resin prints that look slightly bulbous and 4x body casts.
The 4x White casts are Assault Intercessor bodies... If I end up with enough arms... maybe... otherwise, Basing bits.
To their left, that appears to be a Primaris Bladeguard Veteran. Would need to paint it to see if the print looks good.... otherwise Basing bits.
And lastly...
A Space Marine Terminator Chaplain. Honestly he looks pretty good. Need arms for him so it would be a conversion to make him work. I shall put him to one side and keep him... you know... for when I have time. LOL
So this batch totaled:
- 6x Models on Bikes
- 3x Full Space Marines
- 3x Full Chaos Marines
- 2x Fantasy Characters
- The means to build 8 more Space Marines
- A bit of terrain
- Objective markers
Therefore I count 12 models.
All in all
Besides all the parts and bits and pieces. These three sets of units that I got as presents and donations are a total of 39 additional models to my collection and the bits to build around 10 more.
Amazing!
For the Grand Imperial Army!
For the Emperor!
Thank you for reading!
