The Mystery of Sleep and Dreams

It is a question that has haunted us since the dawn of time: why do we sleep? Or, more specifically, why do we need to sleep? While there have been many theories surrounding the topic, it is mostly speculation; we have no definitive answer.

What we do know for a fact, is there is unprecedented brain activity and cell communication during sleep. So, take the theory that sleep is for "energy conservation." If the brain requires 300 calories/day to function, and it is highly active at night, then it is still using energy as opposed to saving it. In fact, it is probably using more energy at night!

So why do we sleep?

The answer is simple: we sleep in order to dream. And we dream in order to receive messages from our subconscious -- and sometimes from beyond.

It is no secret that our world -- our dimension -- is not the only one to exist. Emotions are not imaginary, we do not "make them up," but at the same time they are not real, tangible things that we can see. Yet, they exist, and emotions exist because they manifest from a different realm. Our subconscious is our direct link to the spiritual world.

We dream so that we may tap into our subconscious, and therefore the spiritual world. Because, there is a second fact about sleep: we dream every night, multiple times a night. Again, the brain does not needlessly waste energy; it does this for a reason.

Sleep is the "portal" between material and spiritual world. Sleep is perhaps the only time that our subconscious can reach us without distraction.

No, not every dream is from our subconscious, and no, we do not receive dreams from it every single night. Your brain still has to navigate through all of the noise and mess of thoughts and recollections, so your dream about killer pizzas probably isn't your subconscious coming through 😂

But if you take the time to quiet and open your mind, and focus on an intention, it can be a bit easier.

I read a book called Dreams & Supernatural Encounters. It was about a religious woman who wanted to receive dreams and visions from God/her subconscious. Obviously it did not happen right away; the idea had only just been planted in her open mind and needed time to grow. But after enough time, and giving it enough concentrated attention, she finally began to receive heavenly dreams.

"God" is one of the more popular form of spiritual/subconscious dreams. There are tons of earthly objects and symbols that are used throughout the Bible, things that we are able to comprehend. For example, real angels in their true form have been reported to have multiple eyes and limbs, surrounded by blinding light, but in order to perceive them better, we simply portray them as beautiful humans. Human beings are what we are accustomed to on earth, but who is to say how things are perceived in the spiritual world?

And God may only be so popular because He is someone tangible that our subconscious can connect to, but our subconscious dreams can be about anything! It all depends on what is on your heart, and each person's is extremely unique.

The important thing is to clear your mind, be open, and listen to what your subconscious has to say.

Oh, and always have pen and paper nearby! 😃👍
