Well like the title says, I am still alive and kicking. Just couldn't find motivation nor inspiration to write a decent post. Even not an actifit post. Just noticed that my last post was 21 days ago!!!!
The weather isn't helping at all to find motivation to more or less do anything. Not even sports betting. The month is already 12 days old and did place 2 bets.
Also not the spring we were used to in the past year. We rarely reach 20 degrees, lots of rainy periods. And when is doesn't rain the wind makes it cold. Not even to mention the puberty of the oldest son which just drain energy some days. Pretty exhausting!
While my current assignment isn't a dream assignment I'm pretty busy with work. But also started some work related things. Firstly I did inform my employer that I would appreciate it a lot if they would find a new assignment for me. Too old to do work just for the money.
So, had a dry run of a presentation today in which I should present myself to the sales people. I do have to admit that I do like this way of working, while it is a hassle to set up such a presentation. The hardest things to come up with, is an ideal assignment and explain why I do want a new assignment without causing myself some damage or blame other people. You never know who you do need in the future. And while still growing the IT world is a small world.
Already got an potential new assignment where the company want to present my, but that's in Brussels. Which would mean two days per week I would have to commute with the train. On the positive side, this also means that I am allowed to work 3 days per week from home (currently only 1).
Besides this I am also still in contact with my the company I did leave 7 months ago, to explore if we could work with each other again. If I would accept a Dutch labor contract, I already would have gotten job offer, but I prefer to get a Belgian job offer, meaning that the Netherlands need to negotiate with the Belgian department, which apparently takes some time. I did ask for an update yesterday because things seemed to be stalled and did ask if I had to draw any conclusions based on the silence. According to the Dutch manager this had to with Holidays and sickness on one side and some management changes in Belgium on the other side. We will see.
On Tuesday I will have my presentation for the sales department, we will see from there. There is no blood running through the streets (yet).
But also some things done, which were almost overdue. Like filling in my taxes for the income year, ... euhm, .... 2018. You do get 5 years in the Netherlands to fill them in. So 4 years to go.
One can argue that some of the above is part of a midlife crisis or not. For the moment no plans to buy a Harley or a convertible :). But I do look back more than I used to. And also do think more about things.
Cheers,
Peter
