The era of social media changed our lives in so many ways. Who would have thought we would get to see so much content made by children on social media? Not just on TikTok but you name any platform and they are there.
You may have a different opinion but I still strongly believe, that social media is not for kids, not until they are in an age where they are legally allowed to give consent.
And by this I mean, children can use different platforms for educational and entertainment reasons as long as their parents/caregivers/guardians are well-known about it. But using social media on their own or driven by their parents to make so-called 'content' is not okay to me.
When I said this same thing on some popular children's social media influencer's profiles, either they blocked me or their 'fans' came behind me to rip me off. They say we need to mind our own business.
Oh! And they have a popular term, "They are not hurting anyone."
I may sound like Karen to you. I usually ignore those influencers. But some contents were so out of line, I couldn't but had to say something. But I forgot that they are the same ones raised by their parents. So what their parents think is right feels okay to them because they don't know any better.

Just a few days ago I was talking about this topic for some reason with my husband. He was saying "Why we wouldn't say it's child labor or something?" Because there's money behind it and we all know for sure the parents are the ones unforcefully forcing the children to do so.
Well, technically it's child labor to me. Although by definition and legally it's not. But hay, we sure can call it child abuse!
There are some contents where the children are the main characters or doing things. But some other profiles the kids don't know about what is happening, their parents are making them do things or just a daily vlogging thing where they came in a term like showing their everyday lifestyle. Either way, it feels like to me they are pets to their parent.
On the other hand, there are many child singers, artists, computer geniuses, and chess players who also share their talent. I'm all for it.
If the kids are at an age to give consent and agree that they are okay to be posted to the world then it's okay. But in most of the cases, that's not it. I don't know if I am the only one in Hive to think this way but I feel like this is so wrong in many ways.
Children are not our pets. We can't and should never post about their life like this in front of the world. There's a limit and fine line between everything. Now, many will come behind me saying, it's not my children so I need to shut up.
Well, it's my world, we live here too. So one way or another, today or tomorrow it will hamper me.
The innocence of the children shouldn't be exploited through social media or any other means. There are so many child actors and media person that now talks about their past abuse. I don't know when we will ever learn.
The reason is, it's easy money, people love to see kids and so parents can earn through them without any effort, just mindlessly putting a camera and boom there is money! The greed for money is so out of hand, that it's nearly impossible to make any parents understand that it's not okay.

We all have different opinions and preferences. I'm not a judge here but sharing my true feelings on this topic. I would love to hear what you think about this. Let's have a respectful discussion.
