Building Team Spirit: Preparing for the Inter-House Sports Competition

Today marked a special “heat day” in preparation for our upcoming inter-house sports competition. This day was designed to encourage students who show more talent in sports than in academics, recognizing that not every student excels academically. Some students have unique skills and strengths in areas beyond the classroom, and we wanted to give them an opportunity to shine.

As a result, our usual teaching and learning activities ended early. By 10 a.m., all academic activities were wrapped up, and the students began preparing for the sports heats. A variety of activities had been organized, including field events, relay races, and football matches, to help our students showcase their athletic abilities.

The football matches generated a lot of excitement and school spirit. In the first game, the Green House faced off against the Blue House. After an intense match, Green House emerged victorious, winning 2–1. In the second game, my team, the Pink House, competed against the Yellow House. As the house mistress of Pink House, I was thrilled to watch my team play skillfully and secure a 2–0 win over the Yellow House. These matches set a high standard for the upcoming inter-house sports day, where the two winning houses, Pink and Green, will face each other to determine the overall football champion.

In addition to the football matches, the students participated in other activities to prepare for the inter-house sports day. For example, a march-past competition was held among all the houses. This was an opportunity for the students to practice and perfect their formations and coordination, which will be crucial on the main inter-house sports day. Holding the competition early also allowed us to evaluate each house’s performance in advance, ensuring that the two best-performing houses in the march-past will compete directly on the final sports day for the top prize.

While the main focus of the day was on serious sports preparations, there were also lighter moments that brought smiles and laughter to both students and teachers. One of these was an impromptu dancing session. Although it wasn’t originally part of the schedule, the students enjoyed a short dance event that added an element of fun to the day. It gave them a chance to relax and showcase their dancing skills, and while it won’t be a part of the formal inter-house sports event, it brought an extra layer of joy and excitement to heat day.

As we look forward to the inter-house sports competition, we are also excited to welcome participants from other schools who will be joining us for the main event. Their presence will make the competition even more engaging and will give our students the chance to compete and interact with their peers from different backgrounds.
