Note To Self

Waking up each morning takes some grace. I don't mean grace in the biblical sense but rather grace in the sense of something taken for granted. Sleep, I consider to be the little death. It puts you in the dark, unknowing place for hours and in that time, anything can happen. That you will wake up in the morning is not guaranteed. Anything can happen. Thus, grace.

There's this saying that goes like this; as long as there's life, there's hope. The saying gives each new morning the power to offer another opportunity for life to the person that wakes up to it. Each morning offers another chance at winning, at changing from the old to a new, beginning at better. This is hope is little 24 hour doses. Some of us have learnt to break down this pinch of hope into minute particles pursued in minutes and seconds even. We meet each second with the hope that we will win.

This way of living is harsh. It takes toll because life has perfected the blindside tackle. When you least expect it, it would hit you. In the moment when everything seems to have found completion and perfect fit and you can raise your head to smile at the sun, life will run into you from a new direction, topple your bearings, make you weak kneed and terrified. It is in those moments, this hope must and should spring anew. That is if you have a welling of it in your chest. You must learn how to look beyond the present darkness to the light that must be on the other side of it all. That this light may be a figment of your imagination is a reality that you must not entertain. You must give your brain the kind of spiritual food that will keep you moving forward. Gm.
