I really like reading. I read both fiction and non-fiction.
During my holidays I was always able to find my rest and time to sit an read some books. Just recently I have convinced myself that I also can read books at home and that I just have to make time for it.
Physical vs Digital
Despite the fact that I read a lot of books, I don't have a book case, or even a book shelf. I read my books from an e-reader. There are two different camps among book readers: those who read on paper and those who read digitally.
And there is an emerging third group: those who don’t read books but listen to them.
But, I don't have hardly books to photograph in my house, so I had to dig into my photo archive for a photo to join. And that is when I found this Biblioteca del Pioppo Pio.
Tiny Free Libraries
I don't know of this fenomenon of tiny free libraries can be found all over the world, but here in The Netherlands we have quite a lot of them. These libraries are often placed in public places. The 'rules' of these libraries can be different. In some you have to trade one book for another where others allow you to take a book for free.
Although I don't read paper books, I do like the idea of sharing. I've seen a lot of these tiny libraries in peoples front yards.
And you also see them a lot on campsites. Since people can't always bring a lot of books in their travel luggage they can make use of these libraries to exchange the books they have finished for another one.
This Biblioteca del Pioppo Pio (Library of the Pious Poplar) is by far the most creative one I have ever seen. It was placed on one of the beaches of the Garda lake in Italy.
I really had to take a picture of it. And now I can share it with you!
