Escolhido de maneira unânime pelos integrantes da Academia Brasileira de Cinema presidida por Bárbara Paz, o filme Ainda Estou Aqui irá carregar a bandeira do Brasil e tentar conquistar uma vaga entre os indicados na lista final dentro da categoria de Melhor Filme Internacional no próximo ano. Concorrendo com algumas outras opções interessantes, não foi nenhuma (ao menos para mim), que este filme seria realmente o escolhido para nos representar em Hollywood.
Caso seja escolhido para o corte final na lista de indicados, este filme colocará o cinema brasileiro de volta aos holofotes do Oscar em sua 97ª edição. Apesar de previsível, essa é a escolha mais assertiva. Recentemente, o filme conseguiu o prêmio de Melhor Roteiro no aclamado Festival de Veneza, além de já ter sido exibido nos Festivais de Toronto e San Sebastián e também já ter sido selecionado para o Festival de Nova York. Agora, o caminho até o Oscar está mais curto.
Na trama (dirigida por Walter Salles e estrelada pela dupla Fernanda Torres e Selton Mello), o público acompanhará a história de uma família que precisa descobrir a como se reerguer e aprender a conviver com as sombras deixadas em suas vidas por causa das atrocidades cometidas pela ditadura militar. Fernanda Montenegro tem uma participação no filme, o que torna este drama em algo ainda mais especial por diferentes razões para quem realmente gosta de cinema.
Agora, tecnicamente e financeiramente falando, é preciso apostar muito forte em campanhas de marketing, porque o filme é mesmo uma escolha incrível para representar o cinema brasileiro, mas sem os investimentos necessários para torná-lo em um projeto conhecido, é pouco provável que existam maiores chances dele entrar na lista final de indicados da próxima edição. Até lá, só nos resta torcer para que o melhor aconteça, ainda que seja uma disputa bastante difícil.

Unanimously chosen by the members of the Brazilian Cinema Academy chaired by Bárbara Paz, the movie I'm Still Here will carry the Brazilian flag and try to win a place among the nominees on the final list in the Best International Film category next year. Competing with some other interesting options, there was none (at least for me) that this movie would really be the one chosen to represent us in Hollywood.
If chosen for the final cut in the list of nominees, this movie will put Brazilian cinema back into the Oscars spotlight in its 97th edition. Although predictable, this is the most assertive choice. Recently, the movie won the award for Best Screenplay at the acclaimed Venice Film Festival, in addition to having already been shown at the Toronto and San Sebastián Festivals and also being selected for the New York Festival. Now, the path to the Oscars is shorter.
In the plot (directed by Walter Salles and starring the duo Fernanda Torres and Selton Mello), the audience will follow the story of a family that needs to discover how to get back on its feet and learn to live with the shadows left in their lives because of the atrocities committed by the military dictatorship. Fernanda Montenegro has a role in the movie, which makes this drama even more special for different reasons for those who really like cinema.
Now, technically and financially speaking, it is necessary to invest heavily in marketing campaigns, because the movie is truly an incredible choice to represent Brazilian cinema, but without the necessary investments to make it a well-known project, it is unlikely that there will be any greater chances of him entering the final list of nominees for the next edition. Until then, we can only hope that the best happens, even though it will be a very difficult dispute.
