Good evening Hive and to all nature lovers out there!
A few more minutes before midnight, and here I come again. Tick tock, tick tock, tick tock! Everyone in the neighborhood is asleep. You can hear everything. The breeze that moves the leaves on the trees just the slightest bit. The car that's about to park from a block away. The wind chimes at the balcony that bells as the winds get stronger. The neighbor's dog barking in the middle of the night and dragging his 10-foot chain on the ground.
Woooshhhh. Vroooom. Tiiing. Wooof. Pitter-patter. Pitter-patter. Pitter-patter.
Aside from this, it's silence. Little by little, you can hear this soft and subtle sound from a distance.
Tears coming down from the heavens to the ground.
Shhhhhhhh!
It grows a little louder and a little more distinct as it creeps across the farm. It's like nature is whispering to you to let you know it is coming. You can hear, "ping.. ping.." and "tap tap tap". And a million taps of raindrops finally hit your rooftop, hit the dog's metal bowl, hit the pavement.
It is here. It is on top of you, around you and then it gets harder and harder until it sounds as if it will crash through your roof!
Shhhhhhhhhhhh!
As soon as it came it starts to move away, getting a little softer, it creeps along the ground and softens on your roof like a blanket being slowly dragged from a bed until it is gone. All you can hear is the faint goodbye of the rain walking through the fields again until...
Silence.
Once upon a time, in a far small town in between the mountains and the farmland, I lived in a humble house with a thin rooftop. It wasn't the most alluring of rooftops, however when it down-poured, it made a piece of absolute music to the tired soul.
I was so little then. I always paid attention to the downpour hitting the rooftop as the storm is coming so close to my bedroom window.
This memory reminds me of today. I am not a huge fan of rain falling. Today though, it was a peaceful feeling. I am glad that at this very moment, those calming sounds heal and the fresh rain smell soothes the aching spirit. The crawling sound of rain affects the body and alleviates the mind by covering the outside noises. It sort of makes things clear, like the earth taking a shower. At last and is now refreshed.
I am ready for bed.
Tap tap tap.
Slows down.
And silence once more.
One love,
