One of the plants that are still in bloom right now are these little yellow buttons. I could see them everywhere while walking around fields, close to the edge of the woods. And in the very same time I could catch all 3 stages - still in buds, in full bloom and already faded and dried up.
Tanacetum vulgare
Commonly is it called Common tansy or *Golden buttons which is a very fitting name! They are tiny, less than 1 cm across. Each flower stem can hold many of them. Long leggy stems lean towards the grass and mi with other greenery. Even though small - they really pop thanks to the bright yellow colour.
It is a perennial weed that is quite common around Europe. It likes sunny spots and apparently can handle hot summers well. The place where I found it is quite exposed with poor soil and summers can be hot and dry.
Blooming tart around June and last till November in warmer areas., with the peak un summer months.
The plant used to be used in natural medicine despite that it can be toxic. You caan read about all the usages in Wikipedia. Jusy please, do not try any of that alone if you don't know what you are doing.
I picked some of the flowers and brought them home. They stayed in a vase for a few days looking lovely. They also have some daisy like fragrance - the flowers that it. Apparently leaves have some scent to, though I did not test it.
The one that bloomer earlier in a year already died and looked like this:
And of course a nice graphic for dessert :)
