Those spiders do not seize to amaze me. Their ability to camouflage is stunning, and it often happens they have different colours depending on the place they hunt. If you are curious, go google them and you will see some in pink, green, or intense yellow colours. Stunning creatures and deadly hunters in one.

/Crab spider/

They are called crab spiders because of their unique ability to walk sideways as well as forwards and backwards.

From a distance the spider is basically invisible. When he sits still among all the tiny white flowers, it blends so well that even the bees and flies can't see it. And that is the whole point! He does not build a web to catch the prey; he will wait still close to the center of the flower to jump and catch the insect. He is fast and has no mercy!

And I would not notice this one either. I was admiring the bush in full bloom when I spotted the fly. Nothing unusual here, as they feed on polent too. But why was it not moving??

After I got closer I saw the reason :p

This was a perfect opportunity for me to take the photos. When the spiders hunt, they tend to hide (besides that, they are already hard to spot) when I try to shoot them. Camera shy, I guess.

But with the big fly waiting to be eaten, the spider was so still and so focused on the meal that I could move the branch around to take a better look and shot. Of course he saw me. But running away from me was not a priority anymore.

Tiny beady eyes and hairy legs. Isn't he adorable? :)

I had to look closely to spot the spider, it's so pretty. I hope the bee managed to get away because that looks like a dangerous situation. These images are insanely amazing 👏

Nope, the bee is pretty much dead :P
Thank you!

The truth is I don't know how you managed to see this spider, given that it was very well hidden, also in that precious moment when it attacked the bee, that was extraordinary
Your photographs are admirable @ewkaw

When you know where to look for then, it becomes easier :)
Thank you!

I hated that spider and then I saw it beautiful. What an art of camouflage. I also didn't know that a spider attacks without building a web!

Oh, I had missed this wonder, @ewkaw!

Sorry about the little bee :(

It is beautiful. There are few species that hunt like this, not only crab spiders.

She is adorable, and very rare too. I've never seen that species of spider before. These photos are a marvel, what a moment you were able to capture. Thanks for sharing ❤🙌

Thank you!
You can try to look for them on white flowers. They like to hide there. Maybe you will even find something much nicer :)

AMAZING macro scene shots @ewkaw!... wow!... A lot of drama here! :( I'm sorry for the bee, but that's nature!...

Poor honey bee.

Spiders have to eat too..

That's true.

Oh! Poor bee! I would try to rescue the bee, and chase the spider away! He could be in a dirt for a day. He already looks very fat!

Ohh poor spider! He has to eat too ;)

"It has some bloody, violent scenes" - A review of the film.
But there is no blood in these scenes. 😀

Haha no, the spider sucked it all dry :D

At first I was too focused on seeing the bees that you photographed, but after reading your writing, I was immediately amazed to see the beautiful white spiders there that were hunting the big bees, spiders are great predators who are very good at camouflage, really extraordinary photography.

Thank you! Yes, the spider is the star there:)
