This fish is called a brushmouth fish or broomstick fish (called an "ikan sapu-sapu" in Bahasa or "ikan bandaraya" in Malaysian) because it is always seen "sweeping" the glass of the aquarium or other parts of the aquarium with its mouth. He is really famous as a janitor fish, which is why this fish is one of the mandatory inhabitants of an aquarium. These fish will help you clean your aquarium, so you don't have to bother cleaning it every time.
This fish is also classified as a nocturnal animal, which means it is an animal that is more active at night. During the day, this special fish doesn't have much activity; he looks "shy" and hides more often behind my aquarium accessories. I managed to photograph him during the day while he was pressed against the glass of my aquarium.
At night or when my aquarium lights are turned off, these fish will be active soon. Its activity is not with fast movements but with slow movements throughout all parts of the aquarium for its "cleaning duties".
I got this albino brushmouth fish from an ornamental fish hunt among ornamental fish hobbyists, and I exchanged it for two pairs of my ornamental shrimp. I feel very lucky to be able to get this albino fish; this type is a rare or hard-to-find ornamental fish, so it has a fairly expensive price.
This albino brushmouth fish has a striking difference from the color of other types of brushmouth fish, namely its beautiful yellowish-white color, transparent fins, and rough skin. If you have ever touched or held a sturgeon, that's how it feels: rough, spiny, but not stabbed.
Another difference is that this brushmouth fish has a very distinctive fishy smell; it's like the fishy smell of mackerel or tuna, if you know.
The main uniqueness of brushmouth fish (regardless of type) is the shape of the mouth. Yes, the shape of its mouth is like a vacuum cleaner that has the ability to suck up anything. Including destroying some of the aquatic plants in my aquarium.
Perhaps in its natural habitat at the bottom of fast-flowing rivers, it is this sucking ability that makes it able to survive by clinging to rocks without drifting away.
