My Mini Garden Maintenance (Eng-Spa)

  If you remember, last year I won an adorable mini bush arrangement which I decided to transplant (well, my dad helped me do it because I was afraid of it), to a bigger pot so they could grow as they wanted all together but separated 😂. You can remember how it was by clicking HERE.

  As you may know I have no experience with the care of plants, the only thing I knew about them was that they needed little watering and I was watering them a lot so I was drowning them and when they were transplanted to the front yard I let them be happy without so much care and watering. It was my dad taking care of them.

  However, I noticed that one of the plants was growing more than the others and I admit that I gave it a lot of time to do its respective maintenance. Still, it was mostly for fear of damaging them since I had no experience with the plants and their transfer to another place.

  My father let me do it however I wanted and after consulting yesterday with some friends who know more about plants than I do, they told me that I could start by pruning it back and give myself some space to see how deep-rooted it was. So I set out to take matters into my own hands and put my fear aside.

  My old man gave me 3 small pots and some black soil to put the bush there if I took some of it out. I took the special scissors to cut the bushes and prune them. As I poked through its leaves I noticed it had roots all over the place.

  I don't know what kind of plant it is or what it is called, but if I had known it would grow so much and so fast, I would not have planted it with the others. This plant turned out to be a creeping plant, it even came out of the pot as a vine and started to take root outside. It took up a lot of space and was covering the cactus I had planted there as well.

  The truth is that I was very surprised to see how many roots it had. It is a creeping plant that sticks and grows out of nowhere, covering too much space. Although I don't like the shrub one bit for this abusive behavior as if it were a space usurper, I decided to take the branches that had the biggest and thickest roots. Some stems that were not so inclined I also transplanted them.

  In the end, I carefully reseeded the plants that came with it attached to its root and replanted them with the other cactus. I cleaned up and removed all the weeds and dead or loose leaves that were left when I pulled up the bully plant.

  They were grouped according to the thickness of their roots in their respective designated pots. When I transplanted it and added more soil to the pots I told it very sternly: Very badly done plant! You are a bad companion for taking up so much space and putting your other vase mates at risk. You can't do that. You are officially banished from the front yard.

  After that I replanted cacti and some succulents that got out, sticking them a bit with black soil. I rearranged some of the little plants as best I could and checked on the others to see how they were doing. Thank God they have all recovered, especially some long cactus that were dying the first time they were transplanted, now they are green and have even sprouted.

  This is the final result of how the bushes looked after removing the abusive plant. As you can see in the previous photo there is one of the bushes that has some yellow leaves, this is because the sun was almost not reaching it because of the hoarding that the evil bush had.

  Now they are all happy, breathing, and sunbathing as God intended. I hope they all continue to sprout and recover so that the whole nursery will grow as beautifully as a mini garden, which is what I was looking for in the beginning.

  Si recuerdan, el año pasado me gané un mini arreglo de matas muy cuchi el cual decidí transplantar (bueno, me ayudó mi papá a hacerlo porque a mi me daba miedo), a un porrón más grande para que crecieran como quiseran todas juntas pero separadas 😂. Pueden recordar cómo era pinchando AQUI.

  Como sabrán no tengo experiencia con el cuidado de las matas, lo único que sabía de ellas era que necesitaban poco riego y yo las estaba regando mucho por lo que las estaba ahogando y cuando se transplantaron al patio yo las dejé ser felices sin tanto cuidado ni riego. Básicamente era mi papá quien se encargaba de su cuidado.

  Sin embargo, venía notando que una de las matas estaba creciendo más que las demás y admito que le di muchas largas al asunto para hacerle su respectivo mantenimiento, pero más que todo fue por miedo de dañarlas al no tener experiencias con las plantas y su traspaso a otro lugar.

  Mi padre me dejó hacerlo como quisiera y luego de consultar ayer con unas amistades que saben más de matas que yo, me dijeron que podía empezar podándola y abrirme espacio para ver qué tan arraigada estaba. Así que me dispuse a tomar cartas en el asunto y dejé mi miedo a un lado.

  Mi viejo me dió 3 porrones pequeños y algo de tierra negra para colocar la mata allí si sacaba una parte. Tomé la tijera especial para cortar las matas y empecé a podarla. A medida que hurgaba entre sus hojas noté que tenía raíces por todos lados.

  No sé qué tipo de planta es ni cómo se llama, pero de haber sabido que crecería tanto y tan rápido, no la habría sembrado con las otras. Esta planta resultó ser rastrera, incluso llegó a salirse del porrón como enredadera y empezó a echar raíces afuera. Abarcó mucho espacio y me estaba tapando los cactus que había sembrado allí también.

  La verdad es que me sorprendió mucho ver cuantas raíces tenía. Es una planta rastrera que se pega y crece de nada, abarcando demasiado espacio. Aunque la mata no me gusta ni un poquito por este comportamiento tan abusivo como si fuera una usurpadora de espacio, decidí tomar las ramas que tenían la raíz más grande y gruesa. Algunos tallos que no estaban tan inclinados también los transplanté.

  Al final volví a sembrar con cuidado las plantas que se vinieron con ella pegadas a su raíz y las volví a plantar con los otros cactus. Limpié y quité toda la maleza y las hojas muertas o sueltas que quedaron cuando arranqué la planta abusadora.

  Quedando agrupadas de acuerdo al grosor de sus raíces en sus respectivos porrones designados. Cuando la transplanté y le añadía más tierra a los porrones le dije muy severamente: Muy mal hecho planta! eres una mala compañera por abarcar tanto espacio y poner en riesgo a tus demás compañeros de porrón. Así no se puede. Quedas oficialmente desterrada del jardín del frente.

  Luego de esto volví a sembrar cactus y unas suculentas que se salieron, pegándolos un poco con tierra negra. Reorganicé lo mejor que pude algunas maticas y revisé las otras cómo iban. Gracias a Dios todas se han recuperado, en especial unos cactus largos que la primera vez que se transplantaron estaban moribundos, actualmente se encuentran verdecitos y han retoñado incluso.

  Este es el resultado final de cómo quedó el matero luego de sacar a la planta abusadora. Como pueden notar en la foto anterior hay una de las matas que tiene algunas hojas amarillas, esto se debe a que no le llegaba casí sol por el acaparamiento que tenía la mata malvada.

  Ahora todas están felices, respirando y tomando el sol como Dios manda. espero que todas sigan retoñando y recuperándose para que todo el matero crezca de lo más lindo como un mini jardín que es lo que buscaba en un principio.
