Appreciate Beauty of Nature with @phortun: round 158

in #hive-1277882 years ago

Hi there my Hivean friends and followers!

Welcome to the 158th round of my special weekly photo challenge known as Appreciate Beauty of Nature with @phortun :)

I know a lot of photo contests with nature as the main theme were/are/will be hosted by various people on the Hive blockchain but I wanted to come up with something more than just another photo contest where participants would submit their best natural photos. Therefore, I decided to go for quite an unusual concept that I am going to introduce in the following lines.

The aim of the Appreciate Beauty of Nature with @phortun photo challenge is not to make you dig up your photo archives and submit the best pictures of nature that you have ever taken. Instead, I want you guys to go out and appreciate the beauty of our nature right now.

The internet (and the Hive blockchain as well) is flooded with picture perfect shots of landscapes, mountains, forests, beaches etc. taken years ago. But this is not what I want to see in this challenge. I want to see shots that may not be necessarily stunning but they must be fresh, proving that you have just physically spent some time outdoors in the fresh air. But remember that nature comes in many forms. It doesn´t have to be a pristine jungle or a deep remote forest. An urban park, a botanical garden, a little grove on the outskirts of your town - pretty much any place with some trees, plants, rocks, bodies of water or any other natural features would be just as fine ;)

Obviously, there is no way for me to verify whether the photo that you submit in the challenge is really fresh or if it was even taken by you so I am relying on your honesty guys. The prizes for the winners (as described below) are more symbolical than overly motivating so I don´t expect too much fraudulent behavior in this challenge anyway.

I want to keep the rules of this challenge as simple and benevolent as possible so let´s agree on just this:

Only one entry (photo) per person per round.

The photo must be yours and not older than one week.

Add a few words about the photo, at least where and when you took it.

You can start submitting your entries to this round in the comment section below from now until the next round. If you want to create a separate post as your entry, you can do that but please always remember to submit your entry in the form of a comment here in this post as well. I only check the entries submitted here as comments.

Prior to publishing the next round post, I will pick 3 winners, give my full upvote on their entries and feature them in the next round of the challenge. I also give some smaller upvotes on the other entries too so that all participants get rewarded for their engagement.

I usually host the challenge on Thursday but when needed for some reason, I can host it on some other day so better check my blog regularly not to miss out on it ;)

To keep up with you guys, I submit my own fresh natural photo to every round´s post too :) Here is my contribution to start out this round:

When photo hunting for an entry for the last round of this challenge, I was hoping to capture some snowdrops but eventually, I ended up taking a picture of what later (and thanks to my mum´s knowledge and help :D) turned out to be the winter aconites. This time, however, I´m officially and proudly sharing my first snowdrop picture of the year with you and I´m glad that the cute flowers actually came with the snow too, living up to their famous name :) I took the close up photo when walking along the creek that meanders through the Prokop Valley here in Prague, Czech Republic on a beautiful and sunny, yet still freezing afternoon last Sunday.

In the last round, we had 6 participants. After some thorough consideration, I decided to pick these 3 winners:

Hello @phortun, I definitely wanted to participate with a picture that I took sometime at the end of last week when I was on my way to one of the largest National Parks in Israel, Masada. I didn't even have time to download my pictures, but I quickly picked this one to participate in this challenge.

@franzpaulie with this entry from the Philippines:

Beautiful winter aconites, what a lovely surprise the nature has for you. That shot is a winner. And here's another entry. Please let's pardon them again this time :) Today's trek in Valencia Ridge, Philippines.

Congratulations guys! It was my pleasure to give you 100% upvotes on your entries :)

I am looking forward to what you will come up with in this round.

Have fun and appreciate the beauty of nature!

Impressive and cheerful white beauties.🤩 Such a marvellous moment you have, wandering in a look like a fairy world. This made me have flashed back to childhood memories, we have an amaryllis flower that grows in spring, and we used to pick them when we were kids ( you know kids are attracted to colours and destructive in some ways :) They come in 3 colours; orange, pink and red and grow like carpet on the ground.

Thank you for sharing these beautiful memories with us Franz :) I just googled out the flower that you mentioned and, just as I expected, it´s not native to my country but it looks so nice! It´s spring time now so maybe your entry for the next round will feature this flower hehe :)

You choose very extraordinary pictures about nature.
And below is my entry this time.
This is a very beautiful white butterfly on top of a flower in the forest and this flower is one of the beetle's favorite flowers in the forest.

And we also know that beetles are flower lovers and they take advantage of flower essences or pollen to spread kindness to other plants.
I took this butterfly picture around where I live, namely North Aceh, Indonesia.
And this is where I took the picture
And this picture I took on February 28, 2023.

Hey there, welcome to the challenge! This is a very nice entry, such an amazing butterfly species. Thanks for joining this round :)

You're welcome, friends, I will try to always take part in your interesting contests.

Thank you! Glad to know that you have been enjoying them :)

Thanks for including my photo!
And once again Tenerife, north coast is my favorite one, yesterday for the first time in my life I saw waves 3-5m tall! Magnificent! Here is one of the pictures taken there. You can see a mist of ocean dispersed in the air when waves hit rocky shoreline.

Wow, thanks for another stunning greeting from my beloved Tenerife! Talking about beaches in the north, have you been to Playa Bollullo? It´s a few kilometers outside of Puerto de la Cruz. A bit remote but really beautiful and there was always just a few people on that beach back in 2016 when we lived on Tenerife... Let me show you a picture ;)

I totally loved this tiny corners of Tenerife.
Many thanks for reminding such a nice places.

It´s a pleasure to retrieve the sweet memories my friend :)

I didn't know that one. Thanks, adding it my Tenerife bucketlist.

BTW. I don't know if you are still doing your undervalied curation thing, but here is a profile of your landsman living in Dominicana. Just recently joined and I like him already:)

I don´t do that series anymore but of course I´m still happy to support good and undervalued content, thank you very much for this tip, I´m will be happy to guide this fella from my country in his beginnings here on Hive :) Thanks again man!

Hi @phortun, I saw that my picture was among the three winners, for that I thank you and I am very happy.
I also have a picture for this round that I did last week on the Prahova Valley in the town of Busteni, it is a view of the Caraiman Mountains.

poza.jpg

Your win was well deserved my friend and I´m glad to see you here with another stunning entry, wow! Looks like some Alpine scenery. Very cool shot :)

You're right, it's an alpine landscape I captured on the Prahova Valley from the courtyard of the castle where the last season of Wednesday starring Jenna Ortega was filmed(The series runs on NetFlix).
I will do a post about the castle and how the trip there went, time permitting.
I wish you an amazing start to the week.

Thanks for adding this interesting info :) Have a great week yourself!

You're welcome.

@tipu curate

A puppy! In our backyard! This is very strange for us but my partner's son just got this Cattle Dog puppy (Milo) a few weeks ago and when he comes around to visit he sometimes brings her with him!

I wouldn't want to have to raise a puppy but I'm very happy to have her come and visit! 😍

(Taken by me, yesterday, in Brisbane, Australia).

Thanks for your entry Caroline! You might capture some more natural shots during your epic trail runs but the puppy is adorable of course :)

Yes! I got an awesome shot of a tiny spider this morning while I was out. I'm going to use that one in my marathon training update post later today. 😁

I just saw it, such a cute little fella :) I hope to see more entries from your park / forest runs in future rounds of this challenge, we don´t get entries from Australia here very often :)

So cute!! 🕷️

More entries from Australia... 🌏 Noted! I will endeavour to remember! !LOL

@phortun, how do you keep up with all the things you want to do and participate in on Hive? Or have you just found your own very deep groove that suits you over the years and you just stick to that?

Apparently to start a zoo you need at least 2 pandas a grizzy and 3 polars.
It’s the bear minimum.

Heh, that´s a nice question :) I don´t know if you know but I´m one of those (crazy) Hivers who have been trying to do this fulltime and live off it, which means I have more time for Hive than most people here who work, study etc. but still, I definitely cannot say that I´m keeping up with everything that I would like to and there are many things here that I miss out on, no matter how many hours a day I spend hiving... Not sure if that helped you though, sorry if it didn´t :D

Haha. I don't think I realised you're doing this full-time though it does make sense now that I think about it (and I see it's in your Profile Bio, which I'm sure I've read...). It makes sense when I think about your posts and your general way of being on here.

Does your answer help? Actually, probably, yes. It tells me, "Caroline, there's always going to be more you want to do on Hive no matter how much time you give it, so keep consciously choosing the things you most want to do."

Right :) Btw my "fulltime Hiver status" will probably change very soon. You can read more about it here. Then, I will be just a "Hive normie" like most of you guys :)

Hey mate! This photo was taken several days ago in the Alps in Styria, Austria. I happen to know the exact GPS coordinates: 47°21'44.347"N, 13°43'53.125"E

The captured peak is Krahbergzinken. Unlike many other mountains in the area, Krahbergzinken has no ski slopes.

Spectacular shot, thanks for sharing it with us in the challenge! :)

My pleasure:)

Hi @phortun

Today I'm contributing to this edition of the challenge you organise with a photo of last Sunday's outing.

Last week we had very bad weather in Ibiza, cold and rainy, it even snowed in the north of the island, but on Sunday it was sunny and this allowed us to do our weekly walk through the Ibicencan countryside. This time my wife and the boy chose to do the outing through the centre of the island, an area completely off the beaten tourist track, and without really knowing the way we discovered some really beautiful spots.

Here is a sample of the island's countryside in this winter light after several days of rain.

Good to see you here again with such an amazing entry! You said it was snowing there (actually, I know, it was mentioned even in our media that it was snowing on some Spanish islands where snow is usually super rare) but this picture looks like it was taken right in the middle of spring :) Beautiful lush vegetation. Thank you.

Many thanks for your response @phortun

Yes, it was snowing in the three of the Balearic Islands. here in Ibiza the snow lasted only a few hours, but it was funny. On the other hand, the warm colour of those lives is done only in winter and sometimes in autum, if it is cold enough.
