Appreciate Beauty of Nature with @phortun: round 163

in #hive-1277882 years ago

Hey there my Hive friends and followers!

Welcome to the 163rd round of my special weekly photo challenge known as Appreciate Beauty of Nature with @phortun :)

I know a lot of photo contests with nature as the main theme were/are/will be hosted by various people on the Hive blockchain but I wanted to come up with something more than just another photo contest where participants would submit their best natural photos. Therefore, I decided to go for quite an unusual concept that I am going to introduce in the following lines.

The aim of the Appreciate Beauty of Nature with @phortun photo challenge is not to make you dig up your photo archives and submit the best pictures of nature that you have ever taken. Instead, I want you guys to go out and appreciate the beauty of our nature right now.

The internet (and the Hive blockchain as well) is flooded with picture perfect shots of landscapes, mountains, forests, beaches etc. taken years ago. But this is not what I want to see in this challenge. I want to see shots that may not be necessarily stunning but they must be fresh, proving that you have just physically spent some time outdoors in the fresh air. But remember that nature comes in many forms. It doesn´t have to be a pristine jungle or a deep remote forest. An urban park, a botanical garden, a little grove on the outskirts of your town - pretty much any place with some trees, plants, rocks, bodies of water or any other natural features would be just as fine ;)

Obviously, there is no way for me to verify whether the photo that you submit in the challenge is really fresh or if it was even taken by you so I am relying on your honesty guys. The prizes for the winners (as described below) are more symbolical than overly motivating so I don´t expect too much fraudulent behavior in this challenge anyway.

I want to keep the rules of this challenge as simple and benevolent as possible so let´s agree on just this:

Only one entry (photo) per person per round.

The photo must be yours and not older than one week.

Add a few words about the photo, at least where and when you took it.

You can start submitting your entries to this round in the comment section below from now until the next round. If you want to create a separate post as your entry, you can do that but please always remember to submit your entry in the form of a comment here in this post as well. I only check the entries submitted here as comments.

Prior to publishing the next round post, I will pick 3 winners, give my full upvote on their entries and feature them in the next round of the challenge. I also give some smaller upvotes on the other entries too so that all participants get rewarded for their engagement.

I usually host the challenge on Thursday but when needed for some reason, I can host it on some other day so better check my blog regularly not to miss out on it ;)

To keep up with you guys, I submit my own fresh natural photo to every round´s post too :) Here is my contribution to start out this round:

No worries guys, it´s not blood or some radioactive sewage :D The weirdly pinky little river that you can see in the photo is actually an ordinary creek that just got covered with a layer of fallen pink blossoms from the nearby blooming cherry trees :) So it´s all perfectly natural and harmless but I must admit that it did take me a while to figure out what happened there when I spotted this unusual scenery :) I took the picture in the Stromovka Park that I wrote about here on my blog two days ago and you can actually see some of the trees that are responsible for the bizarre color of this creek in that post so feel free to check it out ;) The park is located here in Prague, Czech Republic and we visited it on a sunny (but chilly) afternoon two days ago.

In the last round, we had 6 participants. After some thorough consideration, I decided to pick these 3 winners:

@trangbaby with this entry from Australia:

The weather here in Melbourne this similar but no snow :) It's a pretty close-up pic of cherry blossom :) Here is my entry :) It was taken last weekend at Great Ocean, Melbourne, Australia when we drove back to city from our Grampians trip. It's beautiful coastal scenery and the 12 Apostles rock stacks have become a symbol of this region. We drove a long way to be here and it was totally worth it :)

@bossel with this entry from Albania:

Taken last Friday in the hills near the city centre of Durres, Albania. On the way to a viewing platform I came across some of the famous Albanian bunkers & the area between them was alive with spring activity. My scalp got sunburnt in the process. (Spring has gone again, btw, only cloudy 11°C today.)

@luchyl with this entry from Nigeria:

A mango tree with many fruits on it, captured on Wednesday when I visited my parents. This specie of mango is called German mango ("Ọpịorọ Mango in my dialect), and it's very sweet. When the fruit ripens, it's back still remains green. It's only when you cut it open that you will know it's ripe. I had the opportunity of enjoying the fruits also as mom had picked some ripe ones that fell. There's a myth behind this type of mango that "you don't take soda drinks / minerals immediately after taking it, if you do so, you may likely develop stomach upset which may lead to death". Well, I don't know if it's true or not. The photo was taken in the Abia State, Nigeria.

Congratulations guys! It was my pleasure to give you 100% upvotes on your entries :)

I am looking forward to what you will come up with in this round.

Have fun and appreciate the beauty of nature!

I think that your Appreciate Beauty of Nature photo challenge is truly unique and refreshing. Instead of simply submitting old photos, you are encouraging people to get out and appreciate nature in the present moment, which is such a great idea. Your challenge is an opportunity for people to explore the natural beauty that surrounds them and to share that with others on the Hive blockchain. I appreciate the simple and benevolent rules of your challenge and the way you are able to reward participants for their engagement.

It takes a lot of effort and creativity to come up with something like this, and I think you are doing a great job with it. Your post is well-written and informative, and I appreciate the effort you put into explaining the concept of your challenge in detail. The photo you included as your contribution is beautiful, and I love the story behind it.

Thank you for creating such a wonderful challenge and for encouraging people to appreciate the beauty of nature in their own way. Keep up the great work!

Thank you very much for this amazing feedback, it´s a great summary of why I actually came up with this challenge. It has been around for more than 3 years already and I still enjoy hosting it. We must already have had more than a thousand of great entries here from many different countries. Thanks for stopping by and feel free to join this round or any other future round with your own entry. Cheers!

It's great to hear that you still enjoy hosting the challenge after three years and that it has attracted entries from many different countries. It's a testament to the success of the challenge and the community that has been built around it.

Ash Wednesday night with the April moon along with flowers in our garden. Before, I was sharing the moon while still rising from the east but at this moment,I took the picture while the moon was already in the western side at dawn, exactly 4 in the morning.

Have a great day!!@phortun

Thanks for your entry Olivia!

Those are great picks - congratulations to the winners.
I love your photo - at first I thought it was mineral in the water. I experienced that in Bolivia. Gorgeous photo.

Thank you! Well, to me, it reminded pink salt lakes that we saw in Mexico :) I hope to get a flower greeting from you and your lovely Holland in this round too!

Yes for sure!

The Easter full moon

fullmoon-easter-004.jpg

Here it is a photo of the full moon taken last week during Easter, reflecting its light on the sea, where there is a cargo ship anchored. The photo was taken at Antofagasta (Chile).

Hey there, good to see you here! That´s an amazing entry, thank you :)

I saw these photos last week and they are beautiful. Yes, I said I would participate this week, so here is my participation.

I took this photo on Wednesday while walking. This is the Euphrates River and the view is really beautiful.

Hey buddy, good to see you here! That´s a huge river! Nice view, thanks for sharing it with us ;)

I loved to see your photography of nature flowers looking so beautiful 😍

Thanks for swinging by and feel free to join the new round ;)

Those are some really great photos. That pink river with the blooms on it is very nice. I figured it was flowers or algae when I saw it. Something like that anyway.

I actually have a picture to share this week:

IMG20230402100833.jpg

I took this photo just four short days ago when I was down in Laretto Kentucky. My wife and I took a trip down to bourbon country for spring break. It was so nice to be able to get out and enjoy the nice weather. This day was practically perfect after all of the snow we have been getting in Michigan. The grass was so green and all kinds of birds and insects were out and about. Even though Spring is taking its time arriving where we live, it was nice to see signs of it down south!

That´s a great entry, thank you! Been a while since we had something from the US here :) Must have been a fun trip.

It was pretty awesome. Sad it was so short but also kind of happy to be home.

Hello dear people, here my entry to Round 163! ;)

X03.jpg

Title: "April from here".
This photo was taken last 05-Apr-23 from the edge of a mountain trail in "La Copa" (Montalbán, Carabobo, Venezuela). I confess that it is a complicated photo to observe due to the complexity of its visual elements. But this scene simply seduced me when I observed it when I stopped to rest in my ascent to the mountain... It seems to me that it summarizes much of the atmosphere of these days of drought and heat, when the forest trees lose their leaves and offer that kind of almost abstract visions.

NIKON D7000 | 55 mm | 1/3200s | F/5.6 | ISO 400

Gorgeous photo. It does shows the complexity of our surroundings - which are affected by seasons and nature itself.

Thanks @momogrow frien! ;)

That´s a very interesting view, thanks for sharing this picture with us my friend! Greetings to Venezuela :)

Thanks a lot @phortun friend! ;)

That's kind of weird at first look but beautiful. Are cherry blossoms starting to sprout or it's their blooming ending?

It looked weird indeed but when I figured out it was all natural, I actually started to enjoy the unusual sight :) It depends. Some cherry trees just started to bloom while others are already past this stage...

I JUST LOVE YOUR CONTENT

Hola amigo @phortun. Saludos.

Hola amigo @phortun. When I saw this challenge, I selected one of the many pictures I took with my Samsung a-12, on my recent visit to Mar del Plata in Argentina. This is one of my favorites, because at the moment I arrived to that paradisiacal place, I was able to sit on a bench that designers of tourist spaces usually place. As you can see, I was between those two palms, enjoying one of the best views of the sea. I saw the spectacle of nature under a pleasant shade. The truth is that I would go back to that beautiful place. Congratulations for this great photographic challenge and of great spirituality, because when you enjoy nature, you feel like the most sensitive being that exists. Greetings.

Hey there, welcome to my challenge! This is a very nice shot and I´m glad to see something from Argentina again after a while :) How old is this photo?

Dear friend @phortun, Please excuse me for not putting the date on my picture.

It won't happen again. Because I tell you, I took some beautiful pictures. I hope to show them. Greetings.

No problem, thank you for adding the info :) I was asking because one of the rules of this challenge is that the photos must be fresh, not older than one week. Yours is a bit older than that but we will see how many entries we get in this round, I might be a bit more benevolent and accept your entry too ;) Thanks for being honest, have a great weekend!

Perfect my friend. I really enjoyed this challenge. Thank you for your observation. The most important thing is that my beautiful photo was liked. I am pleased with it. I look forward to another one of your submissions. 🤗

Lovely and colourful shot!!

Thank you very much @momogrow, for your very kind comment.
