Appreciate Beauty of Nature with @phortun: round 177

in #hive-127788last year

Hey there my Hive friends and followers!

Welcome to the 177th round of my special weekly photo challenge known as Appreciate Beauty of Nature with @phortun :)

I know a lot of photo contests with nature as the main theme were/are/will be hosted by various people on the Hive blockchain but I wanted to come up with something more than just another photo contest where participants would submit their best natural photos. Therefore, I decided to go for quite an unusual concept that I am going to introduce in the following lines.

The aim of the Appreciate Beauty of Nature with @phortun photo challenge is not to make you dig up your photo archives and submit the best pictures of nature that you have ever taken. Instead, I want you guys to go out and appreciate the beauty of our nature right now.

The internet (and the Hive blockchain as well) is flooded with picture perfect shots of landscapes, mountains, forests, beaches etc. taken years ago. But this is not what I want to see in this challenge. I want to see shots that may not be necessarily stunning but they must be fresh, proving that you have just physically spent some time outdoors in the fresh air. But remember that nature comes in many forms. It doesn´t have to be a pristine jungle or a deep remote forest. An urban park, a botanical garden, a little grove on the outskirts of your town - pretty much any place with some trees, plants, rocks, bodies of water or any other natural features would be just as fine ;)

Obviously, there is no way for me to verify whether the photo that you submit in the challenge is really fresh or if it was even taken by you so I am relying on your honesty guys. The prizes for the winners (as described below) are more symbolical than overly motivating so I don´t expect too much fraudulent behavior in this challenge anyway.

I want to keep the rules of this challenge as simple and benevolent as possible so let´s agree on just this:

Only one entry (photo) per person per round.

The photo must be yours and not older than one week.

Add a few words about the photo, at least where and when you took it.

You can start submitting your entries to this round in the comment section below from now until the next round. If you want to create a separate post as your entry, you can do that but please always remember to submit your entry in the form of a comment here in this post as well. I only check the entries submitted here as comments.

Prior to publishing the next round post, I will pick 3 winners, give my full upvote on their entries and feature them in the next round of the challenge. I also give some smaller upvotes on the other entries too so that all participants get rewarded for their engagement.

I usually host the challenge on Thursday but when needed for some reason, I can host it on some other day so better check my blog regularly not to miss out on it ;)

To keep up with you guys, I submit my own fresh natural photo to every round´s post too :) Here is my contribution to start out this round:

I just got back home from what turned out to be a pretty much full day trip to the famous Karlstejn Castle and I took a lot of photos there so you can definitely expect a post about this iconic piece of architecture here on my blog soon but I didn´t forget about this photography challenge either. There are several beautiful flooded quarries not far from the castle and we visited one them too. The quarry is called "Velka Amerika" which means "Big America" and I will take you there in one of my future posts too but for now, let me just show you a bit of the countryside landscape that surrounds the quarry. I took this picture a few kilometers beyond the Karlstejn Castle here in the Czech Republic just a couple of hours ago.

In the last round, we had 7 participants. After some thorough consideration, I decided to pick these 3 winners:

@selflessgem with this entry from the Philippines:

Congratulations to all the winners! My entry to this challenge. It's amazing to see these coconut trees just outside our place. Living a simple life in the countryside is what made us happy. Shot at Canaocanao, Tabogon, Cebu, Philippines on July 9, 2023.

@malos10 with this entry from Venezuela:

This week I took this photo of this orchid for the contest. Orchids are so special because they only bloom once in a year. Appreciate his beauty! Photo taken in San Cristobal, Venezuela.

Hi @phortun

A new visit to your nice community and contest.

This time I bring a picture of a dead carob tree in Ibiza. After the farmers abandoned the agriculture and came into the tourist industry, a lot of this kind of trees a spread along the island. The question that draw my attention was haw from a dead wood still the life may grow, like this lichens that take advantage of the last remaining energy of rotting wood.

The picture was taken last week while we were walking around at the forest late in the afternoon. No other time option to walk due to extremely hot weather we are suffering.

My entry for the contest.
I am entering for the first time. If there is any mistake please let me know!
Thanks

Hey, welcome to the challenge :) The picture looks nice but we also need to know where (location) and when (to make sure it´s not older than 7 days) you took it. Thanks :)

I have added the detail about it in my article and I have given the link above.

I checked that article, thank you. There is actually no need to create articles as entries, I only count the comments here as entries so next time, please make sure to include all the required info here in the comment entry as well. Thanks :)

Congrats to the winners! And wow, lovely field captured by you in a shot! Express so much solitude and beauty :)

Thank you Gabriela! Been a while since we had an entry here from you but fortunately, @triplug has been showing us various beautiful places from your country :)

Nice to hear that! I guess things change over time since I don't travel as much as before and when I get the chance to, I try to explore foreign countries as well. But I do miss my time spent with nature :)

Yeah, I noticed, it´s all natural, no worries :) I´m also happy for you that you will start visiting foreign countries too, including mine :) Adventures in abroad may take your blog to a whole new level... Fingers crossed!

Honestly, I can't wait for my trip to the Czech Republic as it's been on my list for years and I do count down the days left until then! But yeah, I am also curious to see how writing about foreign countries visited will impact my blog because when I last wrote about a foreign country didn't happen much. But we were still on the other platform which we, the veterans, know that it was hard to see something good happen just like that, haha!

I cannot wait to read your posts about my country :) How long will you stay?

Well, most of your posts end up on trending anyway so there is not much room for improvement (recognition-wise) but I´m sure you will enjoy writing about your adventures in foreign countries :) That´s the essence of traveling - to see new places, meet new people, learn about new cultures and languages, try new food and explore new, unknown nature and cities :) You will love it!

Around 5-6 days, I think. But yeah, I can't say no to having my travel post most of the time in trending. It's just that I always try to improve them and learn something new so I do hope to take them to an even higher performance :D Thank you so much for the beautiful words tho. And if you have any traditional food, or drinks recommendations to try, let me know <3

If I´m still here in Prague when you come, I will really be happy to meet you guys, show you around some places, take you for a beer and help you prepare your itinerary ;)

I’m new here, I must say this seem so interesting and I would definitely love to participate in this, maybe the next activity😊❤️

Yes, you are new here but after reading your intro, I´m sure you will love it here :) No need to hurry though, take it easy, step by step, and whenever you feel like joining us in this challenge, you will be more than welcome here :)

Thank you so much☺️☺️

Hey there!
Last Saturday night, we had a swim at public outdoor swimming pool (in Czechia) which is actually a biotope, not any chemical plant like traditional public pools. We came across this little guy, European hedgehog 😃

My entry for this challenged:

Life at the village

Most people here are farmers. They have carabaos or cows that will help them in the field plowing their growing corns and other crops.

Taken: July 16, 2023 at Canaocanao, Tabogon, Cebu

Wow, thanks for another interesting entry from your region! :)

beautiful amazing pictures, weather looks seem so pleasant and peaceful. 💫

Thanks. Feel free to join us with your own entry :)

Without doubt, in the landscape/seascape photography the sky is a very important element to consider. In this photo the sky introduces a very “dramatic element”. It is almost covered by clouds and the sunbeams are filtered through them, illuminating the sea. On the waters there is an anchored cargo ship. I like very much this effect. They were taken last Monday in Antofagasta, Chile.
