Appreciate Beauty of Nature with @phortun: round 201

in #hive-12778811 months ago

Hey there my Hive friends and followers!

Welcome to the 201st round of my special weekly photo challenge known as Appreciate Beauty of Nature with @phortun :)

Important note: I have been hosting this challenge in the same format for almost 4 years but I recently decided to introduce some major changes to it so please read all the updates below. The essence of this challenge stays the same though so the intro part will be the same as it was before.

I know a lot of photo contests with nature as the main theme were/are/will be hosted by various people on the Hive blockchain but I wanted to come up with something more than just another photo contest where participants would submit their best natural photos. Therefore, I decided to go for quite an unusual concept that I am going to introduce in the following lines.

The aim of the Appreciate Beauty of Nature with @phortun photo challenge is not to make you dig up your photo archives and submit the best pictures of nature that you have ever taken. Instead, I want you guys to go out and appreciate the beauty of our nature right now.

The internet (and the Hive blockchain as well) is flooded with picture perfect shots of landscapes, mountains, forests, beaches etc. taken years ago. But this is not what I want to see in this challenge. I want to see shots that may not be necessarily stunning but they must be fresh, proving that you have just physically spent some time outdoors in the fresh air. But remember that nature comes in many forms. It doesn´t have to be a pristine jungle or a deep remote forest. An urban park, a botanical garden, a little grove on the outskirts of your town - pretty much any place with some trees, plants, rocks, bodies of water or any other natural features would be just as fine ;)

HERE COME THE UPDATES

Originally, the prizes for the winners were just my full upvotes given to their entries but since, unfortunately, I lately had to power down significantly, my upvotes are not that big and motivating anymore so I decided to reward the winners of each round with additional 1.5 Hive each. So now, the winners get my full upvotes on their entries plus 1.5 Hive each. All of the other valid entries will be rewarded with some smaller (usually 50%) upvotes too so that all participants get rewarded for their engagement in this challenge.

In the past, I usually hosted this challenge on Thursday but because of the reasons described below, I cannot guarantee that anymore so now, I may roll out the new round on Thursday, Friday or even Saturday so if you guys don´t want to miss out on the fun here, please check out my blog regularly.

Also, in the past, I always tried to lead by example and thus open each new round with my own fresh natural photo taken during the previous 7 days. However, as you might now from my recent posts, me and my wife are now taking care of our newborn baby and it takes just so much time and energy that I simply don´t have the time to go out and take fresh natural photos anymore (btw late autumn and winter here in Central Europe are not favorable seasons for natural photography anyway) so instead, I will be using my old photos from cool natural places around the world that I have been to. Hopefully, in a few months, I will be able to go out to nature regularly again and take a nice fresh picture for each round just like I did it over the years but before that happens, I will show you some beautiful natural places that I got to see during our travels. It will also be a nice way for me to remember and relive those moments from the times when it was just me and my wife, traveling around the world - happy, young and free :)

THE RULES

I want to keep the rules of this challenge as simple and benevolent as possible so let´s agree on just this:

Only one entry (photo) per person per round.

The photo must be yours and not older than 7 days.

Add a few lines about the photo (at least 50 words) including the date and location.

You can start submitting your entries to this round in the comment section below from now until the next round. If you want to create a separate post as your entry, you can do that but please always remember to submit your entry in the form of a comment here under this post as well. I only check the entries submitted here as comments.

Prior to publishing the next round, I will pick 3 winners, give my full upvotes on their entries and send them 1.5 Hive each as the prize. The winning entries will be featured in the next round of the challenge. I also give smaller upvotes on the other valid entries as I mentioned before.

So that´s it. Let me now open the new round of my photography challenge called Appreciate Beauty of Nature with @phortun :)

I was really amazed by the lovely feedback from you guys that I got on my post about the Madeira mountains published two days ago so I figured why not to post a picture from another spectacular Portuguese island to open this round. The island that I´m talking about now is called Sao Miguel and it´s the biggest island of the Azores. When we lived in the rural northwestern part of the island, in a tiny village called Joao Bom, we often walked down to the picturesque little coastal town called Mosteiros. The town is famous for these massive volcanic cliffs that stick out of the ocean, towering majestically on the horizon. I think the setting sun only makes the scenery more astonishing. Just the cliffs and the ocean. Minimalist art by Mother Nature at its finest :)

Ironically, the last anniversary round became the first one in the history of this challenge with just one valid entry. There were three entries in total but two of them didn´t comply with the rules and their authors didn´t bother to edit them after I told them so there is just one valid entry and thus just one winner of the last round...

...and that is @suteru with this entry from the Philippines:

I must say, I'm a beach person. Since we are living in the Highlands and we always see the mountains going to the beach is our way of relaxation, just hearing the waves and the breeze touching your skins makes it so calming. This photo was taken in Aringay, La Union, Philippines, on January 6, 2024 around 5:50 pm. The effect of the sun setting makes the vibe more relaxing.

Congratulations @suteru! It was my pleasure to give you 100% upvote on your entry and sent you 1.5 Hive, you can check that out in your wallet :)

I am looking forward to what you all will come up with in this round :) Have fun everyone and don´t forget to... Appreciate Beauty of Nature!

Hi!
Last Saturday, while spending some time in the city of San Pedro, Buenos Aires, I took my daughter to see the Paraná River. It has grown a lot since the last time we had been there (last year there was a big drought and we are just now recovering). What you see in the photo is actually just one of the side branches of the river, which in this area has several islands. The main branch is much wider. The river is not particularly polluted. The brown color you see in the photo is its natural color, as the bed is made of mud. In some areas, in fact, the river forms beaches and it is possible to bathe. Greetings!

Wow! I think this is the first time we have the famous Parana River featured in this challenge :) Thank you, cool entry!

Amazing Wonderful clicks you all have

There was just one winner in the last round...

The beauty of nature is so beautiful to behold and admireb

Hello @phortun, you bring us a beautiful photo.

I took this photo today in La Victoria city just a few minutes ago hehehe, to be more exact, at 18:49 pm, sunsets in January are very colorful and clean in Venezuela and my city it's not the exception 😃, I love sunsets and I try to watch them when I'm home. Now the moon is in the growing phase so the panorama looks really amazing with no clouds in the sky and those amazing colors.
Have a nice day.

Interesting picture, thank you :) Not as much nature as we know from your hikes but let´s count the sky and the moon :) Btw funny how near the equator, the moon looks like a smiley in this phase. Here in our latitude, it looks like the letter "C" :)

Thanks my friend 🌜⭐
Really? Yes, it's like a smile or a little boat hehehe, interesting appreciation, I though the moon looked the same everywhere 🤔

Nope :D

main-qimg-dfbcb5167357dc81e9fc0fb228582ce2-pjlq.jpg

I can confirm that myself as I have noticed these differences at various latitudes ;)

😲 wow, that's very interesting @phortun, thanks for that information 👍🏻. Well, I think the moon smiles here because we are very happy and funny people in these latitudes hehehe 😃😁

Hahaha, that´s right :) The closer to the equator, the more relaxed and happy people live there, that´s my experience too :)

Hehehe 😎

Baby! Congratulations @phortun 😍 I hope you are coping well with your little bundle of !LUV 🤗

phortun, consciouscat sent you LUV. 🙂 (4/10) tools | trade | connect | daily

Made with LUV by crrdlx.

Thank you! Well, let´s say we are trying our best to adapt to the new role :)

That shot from Madeira is really cool.

Today my wife and I made a walk along the beach. It was cloudy and cold and when we walked back to the car it even rained a bit. Although the weather wasn't that great it was good to be outside for a while.

About the photo: I like how the wind creates nice structures in the sand.

Some interesting sand patterns, thank you :) Btw I guess the location is the Netherlands? ;)

Oh, sorry! Yes indeed, I'm back in the Netherlands.

Hello again , my fellow nature lovers. This week I will be featuring the mountains of Benguet, Philippines. Within those mountains is where our water is coming from. And as you can see we have a lot of Banana Trees growing in the are, being a tropical country have it's perks. This photo was taken using my phone last Jan. 13, 2023 @ Tuba, Benguet, Philippines, during our walk to inspect the pipelines for our water source.

Hey there, thanks for another great entry but unfortunately, the winners of this round are already picked. Try to submit your entry sooner next time ;)

It's okay sir, thanks.
Just glad you liked the photo, I have lots of mountain to visit this month so I'll surely join again in the next contest.

Last week it snowed, the first time this winter! The whole week was freezing. And today a sunny day dawned.
I wanted to take a walk in the forest, so I went to Šušara, which is located on the edge of Deliblatska peščara (Banat, Serbia!)
At the entrance to the sandstone, you come across a hill that you pass and descend into the village.... This photo is from that hill, a view of the plain that was decorated with windmills a few years ago... and in the mist, Vrsac hills can be seen...

Greetings from the plains

Snowy picture from Serbia, wow :) Thank you! Greetings from freezing snowy Czechia :)

Thank you very much @phortun 🌸

My pleasure ❄️❄️❄️

Hi @phortun mate

I took this photo last week when I went to my favourite place. It is a dam-lake surrounded by forest in Istanbul. I and my friend sometimes go there to be in nature and get relaxed. The weather was great on that day and we wanted to take advantage of it. It is a privilege to have such a place in such a metropol like Istanbul. I have shared some posts about it before and will share a new one soon.

Hey there, good to see you here again! That´s a very nice place, thank you :) Can you just add a sentence or two to meet the minimum word count requirement please? :)

Done :)

Greetings @phortun here is my entry for this event. A photograph of the Chaguaramos in my beloved home: The Central University of Venezuela (UCV) in Caracas, Venezuela that I took on Friday, January 12, 2024. The Chaguaramo or also known as Palma Real is a large palm that adorns the spaces of the Faculty of Sciences at the UCV. I hope you like it, best regards!

Thanks for your entry! Greetings from the sunny tropics, that´s what I need right now here in freezing Czechia :) Saludos!

A view of "El Ávila" National Park, a group of mountains located in front of Caracas (Venezuela).
One characteristic thing of these mountains is its deep tree color. Notice the peak located at the left the images, it it named “Topo Bergantín o Topo Dos Bandera” (“Peak two flags”) due to its shape of double peak.
The photo was taken last week.

This is part of this post:

Hey there, good to see you here again my friend! That´s an amazing shot! Can you just add some more text (including when you took the photo) to meet the minimum required word count please? Thanks ;)

Many many congratulations to the winner.

Yesterday I went for a walk with my friend to a special place in my city where there is a whole mountain area, so I took this picture.

Thanks for joining this challenge but to make your entry valid, you should add some more text to meet the minimum required word count and also include the location of the photo. Thank you :)

I am very happy to be here again at the contest launched by @phortun and even more happy to show all of you who visit this contest a special place for me.

Here in Romania, these days a polar air came over us and we have only frost.

Despite the frost outside, we chose to take a walk along the banks of the Mures River to see if it froze or not.

Apparently it hasn't been cold enough to freeze the banks yet, I remember somewhere about 15 years ago we had a freezing week with temperatures of -19 degrees when the Mures River partially froze and ice floes were floating on the surface of the water.

The photo is taken by me today, 14.01.2024, at my place in the commune in western Romania.

In the picture you can see the frozen nature, but also some big pieces of willow that was cut down a few years ago, and in the background you can see an amazing sunset.
I hope you enjoy the photo I am sharing with you.

Hey buddy, good to see you here again! Thank you for this amazing entry, I love it :) I can literally feel how cold it was that day just looking at the picture haha :)

Hey mate, I really couldn't help but participate in this round up, and I'm glad I was able to share with you a photo that I really like.
Have a wonderful week ahead.

I’m sure people will pull up on this contest
I can see that you really love those pictures you took in Madeira mountains
They are so nice

The participation in this challenge is very random and unpredictable. Sometimes, I get between 10 to 20 entries in one round, other times barely enough to make the winning collection.

I think I'm going to join in on this one!

I know you said fresh photos but I have a bunch I want to share that I took over the last three weeks!

I'll read the changes first before jumping away though!!

Cool :) Check out the rules and feel free to join the fun :) See you here later!

We just share the photo in the comments with about 50 plus words right?? No need to write up a post about it hey?

Exactly :)

Comgrats to the winners!

Just one winner this time, unfortunately :/
