Hello, my dear friends. how was your day today? I hope you will always be happy and lucky. I'm sure you've heard of the Vietnamese traditional Tet holiday. The traditional New Year day of my country is approaching and the atmosphere in my hometown is getting more and more exciting and bustling. Why do Vietnamese people often keep peaches, apricots, and kumquats at home during Tet?

Every New Year comes spring, Vietnamese people often buy peaches, apricots, and kumquats to display for the house, wishing that luck and blessings will come to everyone in the family.
It is no coincidence that since ancient times, Vietnamese people liked to choose peaches, kumquats, and apricots as the three main ornamental plants for Tet. This custom has been applied by many families for thousands of generations, however, few people know the meaning of each of these plants.

Peachtree - Prosperity and growth

Peachtree is also often chosen to decorate the New Year. Peach blossom is considered a sacred symbol representing renewal and vigorous growth.

Peach fruit symbolizes longevity and is meant to bring a new age to the people in the house, the elderly live for a hundred years, and young children gain a new age.

In addition, peach blossom symbolizes romance and prosperity. Therefore, it is suitable for young people who are looking for love.

Yellow Apricot - Wealth and nobility

If the peach blossom is the symbol of Tet in the North, the yellow apricot is the symbol of the people of the South. The color of gold symbolizes nobility, wealth, and hope.

With that in mind, every family tries to decorate some blooming apricot trees in the house with the desire to enter the new year with more joy, happiness, money, and fame.

There is an ancient concept that if a house apricot tree blooms only with 7-petal apricot flowers, that house will be "great sand great" in that year.

Kumquat tree – Abundance and happiness

According to the ancient concept of Vietnamese people, the kumquat tree (or tangerine) symbolizes a "bounty" harvest and also a good start to the new year. The more luxuriant the tree, the greener the leaves, the more fruit-laden the tree promises a better new year and more money and fortune. The kumquats look like the sun and are an auspicious symbol of abundance and happiness.

Kumquat tree in folk concept is also a symbol of health, peace, longevity, and luck in love.
Traditionally in Vietnam and some other countries, the kumquat tree often hangs or puts a few red lucky money. This lucky money is given to children with the meaning of bringing good things and luck in the new year.

I feel like Tet holiday is already here. I have suffered from the noise of karaoke these days.

With a few more days until Tet, I really like the Tet atmosphere in the village.
