Rest In Peace, Sweet Birdies 🕊

I had a difficult night. Between the mosquito bites & my guilty conscience, it was hard to sleep…

After trying to feed the fledgling birdies that had fallen out of a tree, yesterday I worried they might not make it through the night.

Throughout the day, I had placed them (in their makeshift nest) in different locations — under a tree, by a bird nest — in hopes of their finding adoptive parents.

Unable to fly, hardly walking, and not able to feed themselves I did not think they stood a chance in my care.

I’d need an eye dropper to feed them, several times a day, and I had other chores to do on the farm, plus I was leaving for a weekend trip.

So, before going to sleep, in a fit of desperation, I placed them in a nearby tree visited by varied and friendly birds. And I went to bed praying for a miracle; that they might be saved 🙌🏼

When I awoke this morning to their empty nest, I feared the worst : that they had been snatched/eaten by larger predatory birds.

Heaven forgive me for betraying the trust of these young, defenseless creatures, who were beginning to form a relationship with me.

I did not know how to take care of them and had good intentions when I left them outside, overnight.

I hope their souls are at ease & free of suffering 🙏🏽✨
