Hello everyone, I’m really excited today and the energy I have for this year. Last year, I was helping my sister decorate her space but I got busy so I stopped. She asked me if I could continue this year and I was so excited. She told me about a lamp she has had for about a year but looked too average for her and asked if I could do something about it.
My initial plan was to make a garland and wrap it around it but to her, it wasn’t enough so I came up with roses. My sister is allergic to real flowers but she’s always wanted them so I knew this was going to make her so happy. Each time she received flowers, she gave them to me and I felt it wasn’t fair that her allergies wouldn’t make her experience what it’s like to have flowers in your space.
As someone who loves bright colors, she was very indecisive when we were choosing the colours so at a point, she left everything on me. At first I was going to get just red to make red roses but knowing her, she would get tired of it easily. So I went with red, yellow, blue, and purple.
I began making the petals and from the instructions she gave me, there was no need to make sepals. I used a very simple method to make the petals. I made the base with about 50 chains and then built on it with 2 double crochets, skipped two chains and then another two double crochets.
I’ve tried several petal bases but I found out that this is the best and it gives the flower height and makes it more fuller.
I then finished it off with 6 double crochets in the spaces created by the 2 double crochets. This part is a lot tricky but it all depends on how you want your flower to be. If you want a fuller one, add more double crochet while you get to the end.
I then used yarn and needle to wrap the petals to
Form the flowers.
The last thing I did was to make the stems. Thankfully, I used a hack I created which made me save time. I used strong broomsticks for that. I cut them into the same length and then I wrapped them with the yarn. It was difficult at first but then I began wrapping it and then I’d pull it down to fill the space. I continued like that till I wrapped everything. And I was done

My sister isn’t someone you can easily impress so I was nervous about her reaction. Thankfully, she was so happy after seeing it, to the extent that she even became teary. For the very first time, she was going to have roses in her space without having to fear any allergies.
Thank you so much for your time.
