Hello everyone, we’re still on our usual project of using all our leftover yarns to do something nice. Today I chose a Granny Square bucket hat. One of the simplest patterns in crochet is the granny square. It really didnt take much of my time and my yarn. I 100% recommend for beginners because it’s really easy. All that you need to know is how to make double crochet and half double crochet.(simple right?)
Don’t worry, I’m here to teach you step by step so at the end you can make yourself a beautiful hat as well.
The materials I used were:
• leftover yarn
• 1.60 mm
• a pair of scissors
I cut the yarn and. now changed to the next color, made two sets of three double crochets with two chains in their middle for all the holes that were previously made with two chains.
Crucial part- Now we’re trying to keep the square shape so keep making three double crochets in all the holes but at the corners we’ll make two sets of three double crochets with two chains in between them.
So we keep repeating this till we get to the size that we prefer. I made 5 of the squares.
To join the squares together, I used the burgundy yarn to make single crochets( you can use your preferred color of yarn).
After joining everything, I made the brim. I wanted it have a swirly design so I made two half double crochets in the first two stitches and then two half double crochets in the third stitch. Two half double crochets in the first two stitches and two half double crochet in the third stitch. So you’re going to make a half double crochet increase in the third stitch. I did this for three rows with the light peach and then changed color to the burgundy and made one row of what I had already done.
I was now done with the hat. I got the opportunity to have a model this time and she really liked the hat so I might give it to her.
As I said earlier, I used just double crochet and half double crochet for this hat. Nothing special, nothing complicated. For beginners it will help you build how you make your patterns and for pros, I’m sure it’ll help you make use of your leftover yarn.
It was really nice making this and I hope you like it.
