How I Crocheted A Spider-Man Themed Headphone Cover For My Nephew

in #hive-127911last month

Hello everyone, I’m here today to share with you this Spider-Man themed headphone cover I did for my nephew who is 14 years. The last vacation he visited, he promised me he was going to do very well in his exams and in return I had to do whatever he wanted me to do. I agreed without even thinking twice.

I spoke to him and he showed me his results and I was so proud of him. He asked me to make him a Spider-Man themed something. He wasn’t sure what exactly he wanted. I know how much he likes playing video games and he’s mostly with his headphones in his gaming room so I chose a headphone cover.

It took me about 3 hours to make everything because of the details I had to add. It wasn’t so difficult but the repeating the same details on the other cover was a little challenging.

The materials I used were:
• leftover yarn
• 1.60mm crochet hook
• sewing needle
• white linen fabric

Procedure
I started by making the covers which I made in blue. I made them in solid granny squares. I made a magic ring and then I filled it with 4 sets of two double crochet, a treble crochet and two double crochet. This builds a solid granny square base. I kept on building on the base by filling each row with double crochet and then two double crochet, a treble crochet and two double crochet at the four corners. I did this till I reached the 5th row and then I started a decrease to create the cap shape. For the decrease, I made just a double crochet at the 4 corners and then skipped the 4th stitch. I repeated this for the rest of the rows till the “cap” shaped formed.

I started with details of the mask. I made a circular shape in red using a magic ring and then increased it in 7 rows. An increase means two single crochet in each stitch.

After making the base for the mask, I used the needle and yarn to draw the details on the mask whiles attaching it to the cover at the same time.

I now went ahead to shape and cut the eyes on the mask from the linen fabric. I then attached it to the mask using the yarn and needle. Everything I did for one cover, I just repeated for another cover and I was done.

The result.

It was really fun making this because of the details. I’m glad I could do this for my nephew. I know he’ll be so happy getting this because he’s obsessed with Spider-Man. I know this will motivate his to do even better next academic term.

Thank you for your time.
