Hello everyone, so I’m so excited today. I mean the reason is obvious but permit me to show my excitement. Before I say anything, is it only me or crocheting sometimes makes crocheters feel like they don’t know how to count. Sometimes I start counting and then I get lost and then I have to start counting again but since I’m lost, I just redo everything again. Haha, it’s actually frustrating when that happens.
This particular project was not easy at all. I mean making a bucket is easy, even a class one student can try but then when it comes to adding anything extra like how I added the hive logo, then everything changes. I have been wanting to make hive themed stuff for a while so I rock them at the hive fest, hopefully. I made this hive themed bucket hat as part of my hive project and it took me about 7 hours to make.
The materials I used were;
• 50g of yarn
• 1.60mm hook
I started by making the base. The base is very simple yet complicated so it’s best you can play around yours to get your desired result. It also depends on how big or small your head. Mine is big so I made is to fit my big head. Haha. I made a magic circle and then made ten double crochets in the Magic circle. After that I started the building of the base. I made an increase in each row. From two in every stitch to two in the second stitch, two in the third stitch, two in the fourth stitch, two in the fifth stitch. So basically, you increase in every row of the base.
After I was done with the base, I moved on to the body. Instead of the normal body, I wanted to include a hive logo so I was a bit cautious there. The hive logo wasn’t a problem for me but the base made me struggle a lot. I had to unravel my work about three times. The third time, I took a break and ate because I started to feel frustrated and dizzy.
Anyway, so for the logo, I started by making the pattern. I made sure to replace it with the cream colour anytime I was making the logo. The last time I made wrote the logo pattern here, people didn’t understand so I’ll take my time today. I started from making 1, 3, 5, 7, 5, 3, 1 double crochets for the the kite-like shape in the symbol and then for the other parts, I made two double crochet each. The whole body was made with a double crochet, a chain and another double crochet.
For the brim which was the easiest part, I made six double crochets and then two in the seventh stitch. I reappeared this till the end of the row. Then I made two more other rows with the same pattern.
The result
This whole project was easy except the base which I have already explained why but I’m glad I still finished it. I’m moving to the next project. What do you think I should make next with the hive logo?
