Hello everyone, I’m excited to share with you all this transformation project I did. I’ve had this colored jeans for about 5 years but just I hate it. I hate the jeans because it looks so funny when you put it on but I love the fabric. And the one thing about me is that I never give out clothes I hate. So I could have given it out, but I didn’t because I only give out clothes I like but do not want. I just don’t think it’s nice to give out clothes I hate.
So I decided to transform it into a pleated skirt. One of the main reasons behind this project was to learn how to sew pleats. And in the beginning, I thought it was going to be overwhelming, but I’m glad it wasn’t so difficult as I expected.
I used measuring tape for the measurements of the pleats and scissors to cut the jeans up. This was just like a diy.
I started by cutting the parts of the jeans I needed and it took about an hour just to cut them out because I didn’t want to mess up. It’s very funny how I’m always so alert when it comes to such diys because one mistake means the disaster. I began with the upper part of the Jeans.
And then moved onto the pleats, which I used the other legs of the Jeans to make. I also wanted to give it that’s vintage style so I didn’t really think of folding the edges. I wanted the frays to show.
After cutting the parts for the pleats, I started arranging them. With this, I used pins to hold them in place. I measured about two inches throughout and then pinned them on each other. I did that for the front part and the back as well.

I then sewed the pleats to the upper part of the jeans I cut. It was a little tricky because of the allowance I had to add.

I finished with the skirt but I realized the waist was bigger and I have no idea how to alterate the waist of a jeans so I’ll figure how to do that later.
I’m so happy I’ve been able to do this after years of not knowing what to do with this jeans. I have finally also learned how to pleat and I’m so excited about that. When my mom saw me working on it without her help, she told me I was really improving and that was an emotional moment for her. Thank you for your time and let me know what you think.
