Hello Needle workers...
It's a beautiful new day and every day brings forth new possibilities.
I am excited to share with you a purple lace dress for Cynthia. It's her dad's Thanksgiving day at church yesterday so I made the dress last week for her.
It's a net lace and has just few embellishment. That would have been an obstruction for a smooth sewing experience, if the stones and embellishments were so much.
The net lace is a see-through fabric which required a lining, so the lining I used was a bridal satin of the same colour - Lilac.
The style is just a simple fitted princess cut dress with a double funnel sleeve. Achieving a funnel sleeves requires cutting the fabrics in form of a flare and adding a fitted sleeve to it.
One dart I love to work with so much is the princess dart cut. It requires just having the bodice measurement like: bust span, bust point, shoulder, under bust, yoke and waist. I also used a subtle Vee-neckline because she's a very busty lady.
The lower part of the dress just required her hip, waist and dress-length measurement.
Her hip is 40inches, divided by four, it gave 10 inches and then I added two inches each as seam allowance.
After turning the upper part with the bridal satin and joining each part together. I joined the upper bodice to the lower bodice which gave it a full-length dress.
This is the full view of the dress and Cynthia rocked it to church yesterday. I am yet to receive a picture of her rocking the dress, rest assured that she loved it.
The back was fastened with a matching color zipper. One thing I always look out for is ensuring the back half-cut matches each other after attaching my zipper. It gves it a professional look and make the dress look so neat.
People say colors are attached to a significant event, who has an idea why Lilac was chosen? Hehe well if you do you can share it here with me.
What I love most about this dress is the color and I think I love the neckline as well. What do you think about the style? I love to hear your thought as it creates room for improvement.
Images used are mine. Outfit cut and sewn by me.
