Elegant stitch: Designing my kurta and trouser

in #hive-1279117 days ago

Hello, fellow needleworkers, hope you are doing well. This post is my second one in this community. As winter season is started from few weeks, I decided to make some new dresses for my self. So I bought this fabric. From last few days I was planning to make dress but for some reason I can't get time for stitching. Today, I start working on this project.

Material Needed

Fabric
Measuring tape
Scissors
Fabric Marker
Sewing thread
Pasting paper
Lace and Piping
Elastic band

Measurement for kurta

Shirt length and width
Shoulder width
Armhole length
Chest measurement
Waist measurement
Hip measurement
Sleeve length
Procedure for drafting and cutting

For kurta cutting I need to draft its pattern. For drafting firstly, I measure shirt’s length and width and cut it.

Then draft shoulder width, armhole depth, chest, waist and hipline measurement. Give a little roundness to the armhole at its lower point. Then draft sleeves, take length and width (here one thing to be added, sleeves width must be equal to armhole depth), so I would draft width according to armhole depth. And make one end of sleeve rounded like armhole. On the other end, mark the cutting and stitching pattern. For shortage of time i couldn't take snaps at each point.
After drafting I cut shirt and sleeves according to measurement.

Now start stitching kurta firstly. I start from neckline. Some people prefer to work on neckline after completing the shoulder and sleeve stitching, it depends on ones choice. After searching from a lot of time, I’m okay with that design. I want this design that’s most trendy and viral on internet. I cut the neckline pattern with pasting paper.

Firstly, I cut the round neck pattern, paste it on fabric and sew it. After completing round shape I cut and paste this pattern on fabric, use lace on both side of this strip. This design was very time consuming and I fed up with it but I have to complete it.

Now it’s turn of back side neckline I cut it’s pattern, paste it on shirts backside and stitch it.

Now I joined front and back part of shirt by stitching shoulder line. Then attach the sleeves with armhole.

It’s time for some decoration so I use this lace on the edge of sleeve to look them more attractive and hem them.

And now I mark it’s fitting and start fitting stitching.

At the front and back end of shirt I use lace, and pipping on the sides and finish hem stitching. After pressing, it give neat, finished look.

I try it because I cant wait even more. It was perfect that I desired.

Trouser cutting and stitching

For trouser cutting, I draft the length and width of trouser. Then I mark the line for fitting and cutting. Cut it accordingly.

Firstly, I joined the front and back side with stitching. Then fold the upper part and fit elastic band in it. From the lower end of trouser, I fold the fabric inside to the desired length and sew the hem.

Now I Press the hem to set the stitches. So this is the final look of the dress I wore this dress with this dupatta.

I think I should use some buttons or somethings on the neck, but I don’t have any at the moment. Please give me some advice in the comments on what I should use for the neck.Thank you for your time.
