Greetings fellow needleworkers. Today is a beautiful day and I am delighted to share my latest crochet piece with you all. So I was watching one interview where Jimmy Fallon was going to introduce Dua Lipa to one of her huge fans who is an 80-year-old man. I couldn't help but fall in love with the top Dua lipa was wearing. It was a heart-shaped top and looked really pretty so I decided to make the same but with crochet.
It was a pretty easy project overall. I started with the heart section which is the front part of the top. For this project, I used a 3.5mm hook and worked in double crochet stitches. I started by using a tutorial from Chenda_diy on youtube but had to stop at some point since she was trying to make a sweater while I on the other hand just needed the heart section and so I wasn’t getting the desired result. I had to do some things different from hers.
So, I started with a chain of 18 then I made 6 double crochets in the fourth chain from the hook, then 1 double crochet into the next four chains. Then a decrease of 5 double crochets together i.e I used 5 chains to make just 1 double crochet, another 1 double crochet in the next 4 chains, and do 7 double crochets in the chain that follows. Then I worked on the other side like I would for a bralette. On the other side is a repeat of the same pattern, except in the space for decrease, I did an increase of 5 double crochets.
The subsequent rows are a repeat of the same pattern where I put increases and decreases where necessary. When I was satisfied with the size of the heart. It was time to do the sides.
First I had to make them equal, which involved doing a mixture of double crochet, half double, and single crochet on the lower part of the top. Then I worked it up to the upper sides and from there it's just regular double crochets till I got my desired size. I did the same thing on the other size and the top was ready.
Here's the final look. I hope you like it too.
