Greeting Needleworkers. It’s exciting to see another Monday. Mondays have slowly become a day I look forward to because of this wonderful community. Today I am sharing a super crop top I wore for my friend’s birthday hangout.
Let’s just say I was motivated to do this design because I needed to make something in less than 3 days. I did not want to settle for a regular bralette, so I thought the super crop top wasn’t such a bad idea.
I wanted something bright but I did not have the luxury of time to go to the market so I had to work with the yarn I had available which was black.
It was the first time I would be trying this pattern. I thought it would be somewhat difficult to understand the process of making it because just looking at it, it looked complicated. I was sure it shouldn’t take more than 3 days since it was super cropped.
I started with making the shoulder area and working my way from there. In a bid to make it as fast as possible, I decided to make it with mesh - a repetition of double crochet chain 1 for the whole project. The top area was relatively fast to make, the part that got a little tiring for me was making the sleeves. I wanted it to be full length but got lazy at some point and left it 3 quarters.
Surprisingly I was able to finish it the night before I needed it. So I decided to make a simple bralette because I had some yellow yarn that would be enough for something simple. For the bralette, I made regular bra cups but I wanted it to also be like the bandana top.
Unfortunately, while making the bandana part I overdid the decrease and it ended up being so small in the belle area. I think the confusing part was that I felt it wasn’t going as I wanted and so I kept adding more decreases until I realized I had made a grave mistake.
I would have unraveled it and started over but there was not enough time for that since I made it on the day I needed it. Eventually, I had to wear it like that but I am going to do something else with that bralette since I don’t exactly like the final look.
Here’s what they look like together, The over reduction made my belle more exposed and that is what I wanted to avoid. The super crop top helped in making it not look so awkward, so that’s a good thing.
