Hello everyone! Welcome back to my blog. Hope you all are having a beautiful day, I pray you have a wonderful week ahead. Today I am pleased to share one of my most recent projects.
I was delighted when one of my old-time clients told me she wanted to make some crochet for the New Year and I must confess, I love the designs she went for. They are my style, simple yet chic.
The one I will be sharing today is a one-hand top I made for my friend years ago. As a business owner most times you make one piece forget about it and somewhere along the line another client comes, requesting for that same piece and this nostalgia comes with remaking that piece. That was how I felt making this piece.
I must admit I was overconfident with making this piece because it was something I had done. I did not use a measuring tape thinking I could eyeball it and that cost me dearly. I had to unravel the piece when it was about 50% complete because my starting chain was too short.
This piece and another I am working on currently made me realize I prefer projects that are worked horizontally than those worked vertically. When it comes to horizontal projects, it’s easy to fix a mistake concerning length or even width, however, with a vertical project, the most reasonable course of action is to unravel and that is demoralizing for me.
Anyway, after unraveling I learned from my mistake and used a tape measure this time. A tip for anyone who wants to work on a vertical project, always add 2-3 inches to the actual measurement because it always shrinks, also don’t stretch your project when taking the actual measurement. It never ends well.
Since this project was something I had done before it was easy to work the rest after I corrected my mistake and once I had successfully gotten the perfect length, I made the front piece and went ahead to replicate the same for the back piece.
Here is the final look, I hope you like it.
