Hello Hive! I am super excited to share my latest crochet project with everyone because I did something different with this one. I have always wanted to combine crochet and sewing and I finally got to do that with this piece.
It all started when I went shopping for yarn. I came across this beautiful certain material and instantly I knew what I would use it for. I took a little detour and got the fabric from the store before going to shop for yarn, just so I can get a colour that suits the fabric.
I started the project when I got home that day, although I was exhausted I was equally eager to get started with the project. This whole project was done with double crochet stitches and some sewing. So I started with the bra cups first. I started the bra cup a little differently than I would a regular bra cup. Since this design is coming from the side the measurement has to match with the sides.
Usually, my beginning chain would be equivalent to 3 inches or less but this time I went with 4.5inches since that was the measurement from my sides. Also, my usual bra cup would be 8 rows of double crochet to accommodate my breast but since this one is coming from the sides I needed to do only 7 rows of double crochet.
When I was done making both bra cups, I started with double crochet rows on the sides, so they can extend to my back. I did leave a 3.5 inches space for the armhole since my top would have an arm at the end of the day. For the back rows, I did a total of 13 rows which is equivalent to 5.5 inches. I repeated this pattern on the other bra cup.
At this point, I hadn’t joined the cups because I was still figuring out what I would do there. So I just went on to give the top a little length. For the first row, I started with double crochets from the back and worked it up to the cups, then left 10 rows of double crochet on each of the bra cups and chained a total of 12 chains in its stead.
Subsequently, to add more rows I did double crochet on every stitch from the previous row, I added a mesh row on the 4th and 6th row, which consists of 1 double crochet chain 1, 1 double crochet. After I was done with the crochet aspect of this top, I added the shoulder part by sewing an 11inches long and 1-inch wide fabric to the top. Then I sewed in my hand to complete the project.
This top is really easy to make, it took me 3 nights to finish and can be completed in a day. I really love how this top came out. I hope you like it too.
Thanks for stopping by ❤️
