Hello Hive!
Happy new week dear creatives needleworkers, hope you all had a fun weekend, wishing everyone a productive week ahead.
Yesterday was indeed a fun day as we got to celebrate my younger sister's birthday who is also a part of us, yea, she's a hiver, in fact, she onboarded me on Hive and I feel blessed to have sisters who are not just there in good times but also there to uplift me in my downtime, I've got three sisters and I happen to be the eldest, I'm sure you would have read about them in some of my post, but today is all about @Jessicaossom, so permit me to wish her a happy belated birthday, wishing her more glorious years In joy, peace, wealth and may all her heart wishes be granted speedily.
You can call Jessica the introverted sister who loves to keep to her space, you will hear her whine about needing her privacy almost all the time, but trust us, especially me disturbing her lol, I get that she takes the time to practice her music which she is so passionate about, just so you know, she won the Vibes music competition here on hive, during the 14th week, just in time as her birthday was approaching, so we thought to make her feel special on her day, my introverted sister has so many first she is yet to do, and her birthday was an opportunity to check those boxes, trust me to make it happen, yea, I'm that not so introverted or extroverted sister that get Involves in all of their lives, I guess it's the big sister instinct working.
The plan was to make her have a birthday photo shoot this year which she has never done before, as expected, I am the stylist to make this happen, knowing her style, she is very conservative, but this time I decided to add a bit of extra style to my Stargirl sister appearance, after all, she is the music star of the family. Last week, I shared the making process of her birthday outfit and hinted about transforming the whole look, so I will be sharing with us today, how I transformed my sister's birthday outfit, from this to this.
Materials used
- Cup chain/rhinestones
- Bias strip
- Fabric gun
- Scissors
To start with, I drew three circles on the chest area, which I turned into a keyhole, that's what it's called lol. I sewed around each circle,
Next, I used my scissors to trim out the circle neatly, making sure I didn't cut through the sewed thread.
After that, I used my bias strip to sew and turn the raw cut-out edge to give it a clean finish, also making sure to give it a good press making it flat and neat.
To finish the chest area, I attached cupchains also known as rhinestones on the circled part with a gum.
The sleeves made a difference too, trust me not to go for the regular sleeves, so I drafted cold shoulder sleeves, giving them a V-shape around the bicep area, the sleeve also went beyond her wrist, and is flared out from the wrist, as you can see in the pictures.
The rhinestones were also attached to the cold shoulder area, and the slit I made at the center of the sleeves ending. I'm so satisfied with the transformation and trust my sister to naturally flow with this look, I told you she's a star.
So join me in wishing @Jessicaossom a happy birthday, check out her profile on Hive and YouTube to listen to her sonorous music covers.
