Hi Hiveians! Today I would like to show you my very first amigurumi snail! Yesterday was very rainy, so I finally tried making an amigurumi. 😀
It has been raining the past three days, including yesterday so we didn't go outside very much. I didn't do any amigurumis before because I was a bit nervous that I wouldn't have enough cotton to stuff it up. Though now we do, so I finally took the chance.
Making this was a great opportunity to learn more about crochet and using the sewing needle. My goal is to do that a lot more. 😁 It took me about two hours to complete. Sometimes I like to take my time when I crochet something to enjoy it and also because it was rainy outside anyway. In between the making I did have a twenty minute lunch break because my mama made pasta with eggs. Though that doesn't count for the two hours of crocheting.
This was my first time crocheting a spiral pattern for the shell on my snail, but I like the way it turned out. You can do many things with the snail, give it to a friend, sell it, or just keep it to yourself like I did. My sister says she loves the way I did the face, including the cute pink cheeks. When I woke up in the morning today, I cuddled with it a lot. 😊
Materials used:
White, pink and grey wool (of course you can change the colors to the way you like it)
3.00 mm crochet needle/hook
A sewing needle
Scissors
Cotton (for the stuffing)
First, I crocheted the body and stuffed it with cotton only having a little slug at the beginning. I crocheted the shell for it afterwards.
I didn't sew the excess wool into the body yet. I kept it so I can use it to sew the shell onto its back. I just put it aside to come back to it later. Now, it's shell time! 😉
To do the shell, I crocheted two pink spirals like this:
I didn't cut off the excess wool because I used it to sew both of the shell parts together. Before sewing it closed completely, I added the cotton! 😀
After sewing the shell onto it, I added the final details.
While working on the face, I was just thinking about adding the eyes, but after doing that I felt like it needed something more. So I chose to add the cute pink cheeks to add a bit more life to it. 😁
To make the feelers on the top of its head, I used the excess wool that was there and sewed into its head leaving a loop. I used some scissors to cut them apart in the middle leaving me with its two feelers!
Now it's done! Today the sky has cleared up again so I can take shots of my finished work. 😀
Here are the results!
What do you think? Thank you for viewing my post, I hope you enjoyed it and enjoy the rest of your day!
