So right after the maroon crop top was done, I proceeded to its pair, the maroon short. My customer had chosen the crocheted Granny Square short design which I was able to share here months ago. But that time, I didn't know yet its name. I just learned by now that it's called Granny Square short because the photo she sent to me had its name and yeah it started from a Granny Square. Funny, but I realize it just by now, lol.
Because I forgot how I did it before, I reviewed my previous work here, seeing the details and making some modifications. But this time, I used a 3mm crochet hook instead of the 2.75mm that I used in the maroon top.
To begin with, of course, I made the Granny Square first, 5 layers made up of double crochet only with 2 chains on every corner.
Then the next layers were done like this (picture below) without working on the last side of the square which will be the upper portion of the short and before we made the waistband on that area, I made 1 layer of single crochet.
I made two exact sizes of this pattern for the front and back of the shorts. For the waistband, I used front post double crochet, and on the crotch area, I connected the two parts by tying them first.
My client wants the sides of the short to be connected only by ties for a nice fitting so I just leave it for a while and began working the leg part.
As I was working on the leg part, I just follow what I did before on that part which derive me into this output.
My first question in mind is that, "Does it look okay?". A part of me say yes, but something feels wrong. Then I looked back the image, the one that my client sent, and noticed that the leg part was not the same as my output. My version looks like there's an excess part on the leg area.
So I decided to cut this area.
No, not exactly by scissors, but I did go back on the 1st layer of the leg part by undoing the stitches. 😅
When it comes to crochet, cutting the excess part is a no-no. But you have to undo everything you want to eliminate.
So by this time, I made a decreasing effect on both sides of the leg which I presume was even better than the old version.
This short takes me 2days on the making while doing some errands in the house plus the teenagers I'm teaching crochet that keeps on visiting to ask for approval of their works despite the rainy and cold weather. And I'm kinda excited with the result, and I'm hoping I can share it here someday.
Thank you ladies and God bless everyone.
Love lots,

Edited: By the ways, here's the other links of my crocheted short that I was able to share here before. Feel free to ask me questions if you have. 🥰
