Happy and blessed Monday my dear and appreciated needleworkers. Thanks to this community, Mondays have become a very special day, as it is the day when all of us needlecrafters get together to show our needlework.
Monday seems like a perfect day to me because, usually, the weekend is when I have more time to dedicate to knitting. Saturday night I went through the plastic box where I keep my yarns and threads to see what Sunday's project would be. As I have already told you, my challenge is to make projects only with the material I have at home.
In my box I found a material that I bought a long time ago in a store in the center of the city. It is a store that I like very much since they sell all kinds of yarns and wools of different materials, colors and textures. The first time I was in this store I bought many yarns, some of them I had never seen before, so I had no idea what they were used for. Such is the case of this yarn called "mayita", I bought it because I found interesting its texture and the color shading between white, black and gray. However, I had no idea what I could do with it because it is a ball of only 300 grams, which would not be enough for a complete project.
In addition to this ball of maya, I also found a few meters of black cotton cord. So after a long time of thinking about it, it occurred to me to knit a little purse. It would have to be very small and with a basic stitch since the material was very little. However, that didn't discourage me at all, since I have many little nieces and I was sure that one of them might like it. So, that same night, I started knitting my new project.
I was pleasantly surprised at how good it felt to knit with this material. I had to use my number 5 aluminum needle, which is one of the largest I have, because both the chain and the cord are thicker than the yarns I usually knit with. I worked in a spiral, knitting loops in low stitches taking the inner strand of the chain to achieve a relief effect in the fabric.
Thanks to the thickness of the yarn, I was able to finish this project in less than an hour. I think it's the fastest project I've ever knitted.
Which I thought was fantastic. I also loved the end result; so much so that now I want to go buy more of this material to knit a bigger purse.
Well, my dear needleworkers, I thank you for your constant support and your kind comments that encourage me to continue knitting and to share my little projects with you. I take this opportunity to remind you that we have a new challenge active in the community, the WIP Challege, to which I invite you to participate and support our colleagues. Thanks for reading, greetings and blessings.
