Hello, Hive, and my beautiful friends of the community. Happy New Month to us! I hope that your day has been coming in well and we are all prepared to embrace the last quarter of the year. It's midweek already, and I'm surprised at how fast the time is moving. The year is gradually coming to an end, and about that time when we take time to reflect on progress so far.
Even with our career skills and creative adventures, we should take out time to reflect on our progress so far and seek improvement where necessary.
I was going through the list of projects and outfits I have made during the year, and even though I have enjoyed wearing some of them to the point that they are now faded, I still have a few I have still been unable to wear, leaving them in my WIP.
I don't know how many years it will take me to finish some outfits.
Mostly when I make clothes, I often wish that these clothes will be the best and come out really nice for people to assume that they were ready to eat outfits sold at the boutique rather than some regular clothes made by anyone.
Some of my WIP have remained in my bag because of how I feel about them.
I have had this lovely dress sewn for a while now but have never worn it.
It felt so plain, and I don't feel right as a designer to wear a plain outfit. It will always feel right to sell our skills by advertising ourselves and wearing the best DIY outfit we make.
My dress needed some embellishment or embroidery to give it that inviting look, and today, while I felt like wearing something new, I took this out and decided to see what I could do to uplift the look of the dress.
First I started out by closing the armholes as I had the white stays giving it multicolrs right there.
After losing the armhole I had turned in that part
I searched through my embroidery items but wouldn't find the right materials and beads to design the navy color of the blue with.
I realized that I had this dress with a lace sleeve that was no longer useful to me. It dawned on me that I can make use of the lace part while I discard the worn-out top.
After picking out the lace, I thought of several ways to place it in the areas before settling to sew it at the waistline.
That was done, then I picked my scissors and trimmed the edges that we're getting torn as well.
The lace wouldn't stain still on the dress, so I got an idea to use my hemming gum to glue them down.
Using iron and the gum, I had the lace glued to the waist. In order not to leave the neckline plain, I equally cut out some flowers from the waist and glued them there.
Thinking about the perfect way to place these flowers took some time, as that will equally determine if I will have a beautiful outcome or not. I tried various arrangements before finally settling for this.
This is it for me.
Can you see the massive transformation? From how plain it used to be here
I can proudly wear my handwork and showcase it to others.
I feel so confident about this that my dress looks more like the ones sold at the boutique. I learnt that we can do embroidery and embellishment with just anything once you get creative with your working tools.
Thanks for stopping by. Hope you like the new look of my dress 👗🥻👗🥻.
