My passion for fashion designing even when I hate sewing...

Hello Friends.

Its a new Monday and such a happy time to be here, its exciting to come around and catch up with everyone once more since Monday is more like our major day of the week when everyone comes around.
Most times we often skip coming around during the week.
So Monday is our lucky day which we come together as family to share our creativity passion and views.

Lately people have been clamouring about turning our passions into businesses and what earn us some money.
It is impossible to learn a skill when we do not have the passion for such skills. Passion is the first driving force
I have seen my beautiful crocheters sell their handmade diyprojects @blezyn makes and sell crotchet outfits to her friends and a few of my needlework family also sell their handmade diy on Instagram and offline.

I did follow some passion and learnt this fashion designing but I have this one drawback am battling with which might not really be good for a designer seeking to start a business.
My clothing designs comes in 3stages.

Cutting
Sewing
embellishments.

I love making patterns and and cutting fabrics.
I equally love embellishments works with beautiful pearls but the sewing is a huge task for me even since.

wing is boring for me, it is also time consuming and stressful since we have to paddle a manual machine for hours.
I hate it when I make a wrong seam line and have to undo it.

Even though am able to purchase an industrial/electrical sewing machine to ease the burden I feel towards sewing, there is absolute no power supply.

And the odd remains that I have alot of outfits I have cut which are awaiting the sewing stage
The implication of this is that I might not be able to meet a customers deadline to make an outfit if I go into fashion business, a very bad business practice that will get me into trouble with many clients.

I love a finished outfits especially when it was created in record time.
But i only love to cut fabrics and embellish them, still to come to terms with the sewing segments.

Along side I have successful sewn my simple flair dress today, awaiting some embellishments for its glitz and glamour.

What do you think will give me more enthusiasm towards sewing.

Passions are often something you would love to do constantly. The interesting thing about pursuing your passions is that doing something you care about on an emotional and intellectual level will result in you wanting to do more of it.

I did have this passion for fashion, when I was still in school but everything keep working in a negative direction until this year I was able to get someone to sponsor me, so we really need to know passion have a great affinity to attract positivity.

I learnt how to sew when I was serving years ago. Funny enough I haven't climbed a machine ever since I finished serving. Sometimes, you may like something but not have passion for it.

You will climb a machine soon if one mediocre tailor damage your clothes 😅🤓 because I don't understand why you are not sewing for yourself at least since you already learnt it.
I guess you only liked to learn how its done.

I feel you!! To me it is more the cutting part I dislike, where I am often in doubt if I got it right...
Maybe you find a business-partner, that enjoys the sewing part? In that way you could complete one another!

I think that in such a big and globalized world you can sell patterns online, I recently discovered a girl on tiktok who makes her patterns, she shows how they are sewn in a youtube video and sells those patterns, here in Argentina there are many people who make that and it's popular, then sewing is a great exercise, I think forcing yourself to like it is hard, I think maybe it's better to get someone who knows how to sew and do it for you.

That's totally true, some designers make and sell patterns but its not so common here and i can look into how that can get started.
It might just take a little bit of a more professional training to get started.

I have a friend whose only job has been to do the tracing on men's clothing. He is now retired and yet he is still employed by the company. He told me that his passion is tracing, he knows a little bit of everything, but he says he is not a tailor.

Maybe your true vocation is designing and decorating. I would love to decorate something like you have done with many pearls...but I don't think I will have the opportunity 😄.

Hello @monica-ene.

The most important thing you have and that is the passion for what you do, that guarantees a job with a beautiful end.
I understand you perfectly when you say how annoying it is to take apart a bad sewing line, but everything comes with practice and you have the love and willingness to make your work great projects. Now that you have a machine, hopefully you will soon have a power supply and you will see that you will be able to be more skillful.
The other thing could be that you could start a business with someone who does the sewing and you do the cutting and decorating. By the way this pattern and design of your dress I loved it.
