El día de ayer fue la quinta edición de Convinarte, y el motivo por el que no les he hablado casi al respecto es que todo ocurrió tan rápido y tuvimos tan poco tiempo para organizarlo todo que no he tenido tiempo de sentarme a hablar sobre él.
Adicional a esto no fue necesario hacer muchas cosas en cuanto a los preparativos porque ya teníamos prácticamente todo. Habían quedado suficientes lienzos de ediciones anteriores y ese es el trabajo más grande.
Otro trabajo sumamente importante es establecer un diseño para el cuadro que vamos a trabajar durante el evento.
Cómo la promoción estaba algo floja pensaba que no se iba a dar, pero la semana pasada todo comenzó a moverse y me tocó, a las carreras, inventar un cuadro.

Yesterday was the fifth edition of Convinarte, and the reason why I haven't told you almost about it is that everything happened so fast and we had so little time to organize everything that I haven't had time to sit down and talk about it.
In addition to this we didn't need to do much in the way of preparations because we already had practically everything. There were enough canvases left over from previous editions and that is the biggest job.
Another extremely important job is to establish a design for the painting that we are going to work on during the event.
As the promotion was a bit weak I thought it was not going to happen, but last week everything started to move and it was up to me to come up with a painting.
Busqué en Pinterest varias ideas y la compartí con mi esposo y luego con Elieska para ver cuál sentían que iba acorde con la ocasión.
Este fue el ganador, que en realidad es una ilustración. Me tocaba descifrar por dónde empezar y de que formar lo haría para poder luego explicarle a los participantes del evento.
I searched Pinterest for several ideas and shared it with my husband and then Elieska to see which one they felt went with the occasion.
This was the winner, which is actually an illustration. It was up to me to figure out where to start and in what form I would do it so I could then explain it to the event participants.
Utilicé un lienzo en qué había pintado una gran carita feliz. Este lo usamos en la promoción de la edición anterior y desde entonces tuvo esa carita pintada.
Hace algunas semanas lo cubrí con gesso y estuvo a la espera desde entonces.
Lo lijé y ya estaba listo para usarse. Tracé las formas básicas del cuadro que serían el sol, los barcos y las formaciones rocosas.
I used a canvas on which I had painted a big smiley face. This one was used in the promotion of the previous edition and since then it had that smiley face painted on it.
A few weeks ago I covered it with gesso and it had been waiting ever since.
I sanded it and it was ready to use. I traced the basic shapes of the painting which would be the sun, the ships and the rock formations.
Al momento de agregar color voy estableciendo los pasos que hay que seguir para lograr el resultado final del cuadro. Trato de hacer un diseño sencillo que cualquier persona que tenga o no experiencia en la pintura pueda seguir.
Está vez no hice una práctica como en ocasiones anteriores. Este era el cuadro que iba a presentar y debía quedar súper bien.
Comencé con el sol de hay fui definiendo el cielo. No me tomo ni 5 minutos hacerlo pues el degradado se logra con la pintura húmeda. Fui degradando desde amarillo, luego naranja, fucsia y finalmente los tonos morados.
At the moment of adding color I establish the steps to follow to achieve the final result of the painting. I try to make a simple design that anyone with or without experience in painting can follow.
This time I did not make a practice as in previous occasions. This was the painting I was going to present and it had to look great.
I started with the sun and from there I defined the sky. It didn't even take me 5 minutes to do it because the gradient is achieved with wet paint. I went from yellow, then orange, fuchsia and finally the purple tones.
Luego pasé a pintar el agua. No tenía idea de como comenzar así que fui agregando los colores pero estaba logrando un degradado y así no era el agua en la referencia.
Entendí que la pintura debe aplicarse haciendo pequeños toques y debe secarse bien antes agregar los otros colores.
En ese momento, cuando cambiaba de color la pintura lila se me derramó. Cayó de lado y se me botó casi la mitad del envase.
Por suerte actúe rápido y la tela del mantel no la absorbió.
Then I moved on to painting the water. I had no idea how to start so I was adding the colors but I was getting a gradient and so it was not the water in the reference.
I understood that the paint must be applied in small touches and must dry well before adding the other colors.
At that moment, when I was changing colors the lilac paint spilled on me. It fell on its side and I spilled almost half of the container.
Luckily I acted fast and the fabric of the tablecloth did not absorb it.
Así fui pintando el agua y mientras sacaban ciertas zonas, decidí comenzar con las formaciones rocosas.
Agregué las sombras y detalles y luego me fui a la base de los barcos que también es marrón.
So I painted the water and while certain areas were being removed, I decided to start with the rock formations.
I added the shadows and details and then went to the base of the boats which is also brown.
Agregué luces al agua con los colores amarillos y naranjas y luego pinté y detalle la vela de los barcos.
I added lights to the water with the yellow and orange colors and then painted and detailed the sail of the boats.
Asi di los toques finales y ya el cuadro estaba listo. Pude haber hecho mucho más pero no podía hacer algo tan complicado para que las personas pudieran lograr replicarlo.
El diseño me gustó bastante y resultó ser bastante llamativo. Logré pasar una ilustración a lo físico y además lo terminé en tiempo récord.

So I put the finishing touches and the painting was ready. I could have done a lot more but I couldn't do something so complicated that people would be able to replicate it.
I liked the design and it turned out to be quite eye-catching. I managed to go from an illustration to the physical and I finished it in record time.
