Greetings to all lovers of crafts, today I join the Patchwork World Contest, sharing how I made a cushion with a skull motif in the aforementioned technique, which consists of sewing squares or small delays of fabric of different colors to create unique design.

The first step is to make the design or pattern, for this I made a modification to a pattern that I had made to make a bracelet in the macramé technique, but this time each square of the drawing represented a square of fabric to be sewn in the Patchwork technique.
The next step was to draw and cut a 5 X 5 cm square on paper, using this square as a guide to cut the different colored fabrics.
The fabric is cut depending on the number of squares of the negative figure, that is, those that are black in the pattern. The positive squares, that is, the white ones, are those that correspond to the background, for this the black fabric will be used , as the eye sockets of the skull are formed by 4 squares together, I decided to make a bigger square corresponding to the measurement.
The next thing is to organize the squares to maintain the sewing order, while trying to combine the colors of the squares in the most harmonious way.
The next step is to start sewing the squares forming rows horizontally to the design, I sewed everything by hand, the seam allowance is half a centimeter so in the end each square will look 4x4.
Once I sewed the horizontal rows of squares, I started joining said row by hand as well. At the end, for the edges, I cut strips of black fabric 6 cm wide and sewed them.
With the navy blue fabric I cut a square of fabric the same size so that this was the back of the cushion. I sewed both sides on the wrong side, leaving one side unsewn, I turned the fabric over and stuffed, closing with a seam on the outside.
Resultado / Result
As everything I sewed by hand the process was a bit long but I loved the result, my favorite colors with purple and black, so I'm happy to have been able to get recycled fabrics from different old clothes that had those colors, I hope you guys like it as much as me.
