As spring unfolds and Easter approaches, I love to bring vibrant, fresh flowers into my home.

Creating your arrangement adds a special touch and is surprisingly easy!

No special skills are required; take a trip to your local florist for advice on flower selection.

They'll help you choose flowers that will last, preventing wilting or early blooming.

What You'll Need:

Base: Round wooden disc and a large floral foam block (soaked beforehand)

Liner: Plastic bag (to prevent water damage)

Flowers:
(Ask your florist for recommendations based on availability)

Roses (3-4)
Grape hyacinth (1 container, 5-6 bulbs)
Daffodils (1 container, five bulbs)
Gerberas (3-4)
Dianthus (3-4)
Freesia (3-4)
Ranunculus (3-4)
Limonium (3-4)
Branch with apple blossoms (optional)

Filler: Moss (30x30 cm piece)

Decoration: Ostrich egg

Tools: Wire cutters, floral wire

Let's Get Started!

We'll build the arrangement step-by-step, adding flowers one type at a time. Keep all stems short for easier placement and complete foam coverage.

Prepare the Base:

Place the soaked foam block on the wooden disc inside a plastic bag.
The plastic bag will act as a water reservoir and protect the table, cupboard, or any other place you're putting your piece.

Anchor the Egg:

Press the ostrich egg firmly into the foam block for a stable centerpiece.

.

Blooming Bulbs:

Separate the grape hyacinth and daffodil bulbs.

Secure them with long floral staples throughout the foam block, spreading them creatively, not in rows.

Scattered Freesia:

Distribute the freesia stems throughout the arrangement, aiming to cover the green foam fully.

Shorten and Arrange Roses:

Cut the rose stems short for easier placement.

As you insert them, ensure that the colors and patterns are evenly distributed throughout your floral arrangement.

Step 6.png

Support Gerberas and Ranunculus:

Due to their delicate stems, use floral wire to reinforce the gerberas and ranunculus before placing them in the foam.

Color Play with Dianthus:

While incorporating purple dianthus, avoid concentrating them in one area.

They give a whimsical touch despite their tiny size.

Filling the Gaps:

Use ranunculus to fill any empty spots in the foam, maintaining good flower distribution.

Elegant Contrast with Limonium:

Limonium's beautiful white florets add a striking contrast and fill additional space.

Remember to vary both flower type and color for a dynamic look.

Step 10.png

Moss Finishing Touch:

Tuck moss into any remaining gaps to conceal the green foam completely.

Floral staples are optional here, as the flowers will likely hold the moss in place.

Enjoy Your Creation!

With these steps, you've created a beautiful and vibrant flower arrangement that will grace your home for up to 2.5 weeks.

Remember, the foam block will not absorb additional water later and is not reusable.

Most importantly, have fun creating!

The process of arranging flowers is just as rewarding as the final product.
