Danaus chrysippus | 27 12 2024 | North Acèh Regency, Acèh, Indonesia |
Danaus chrysippus, around a small garden area near the house. At that time, the sun was already low, and the afternoon light gave a beautiful effect on its wings.
This butterfly seemed to be busy sucking nectar from a small flower that grew wild. Its distinctive wing pattern immediately caught my attention—a combination of bright orange with black edges and contrasting white spots. The color seemed to emphasize its beauty while also signaling to predators that it might not be tasty to eat, typical of butterflies from the Nymphalidae family.
Habitat and Activity:
I observed that this butterfly mostly flew low, moving from one flower to another. The location where I found it was an open area with lots of wild plants, including types of flowers that usually grow in bushes. Its activity was quite calm, so I was able to take some photos using a macro lens without disturbing it too much.
I feel lucky to be able to observe this butterfly directly. In addition to adding to my documentation collection, this experience also reminded me of the importance of maintaining small ecosystems such as wild gardens so that they remain comfortable places for various insects, including beautiful butterflies like Danaus chrysippus.
