Psathyrella piluliformis is an interesting species of fungus that can be found in various habitats throughout the world. Also known as "common stumpy cap," this fungus belongs to the Psathyrellaceae family and is characterized by its small size and distinctive appearance. One of the prominent characteristics of Psathyrella piluliformis is its cap, which is usually small, 1 to 4 centimeters in diameter. The cap is bell-shaped when it is young, and becomes flat as the fungus matures. The color of the cap can vary from light brown to dark brown, with a slightly grooved surface so that looks like a pill. The gills of Psathyrella piluliformis are closely spaced and adherent, meaning they are attached to the stem. The gills are initially pale, but darken as the fungus ages, and eventually turn dark brown or black. The stem of this fungus is thin and brittle, often bending or breaking easily.
