Today, I want to share my latest fan art.
I decided to create Zingu as a human. You could see the reference image right 👉here

I absolutely have fun on creating this piece. It's awesome and cool to see the design😁
Let's dive in to the process🎨

Art Process

First, I focus on creating the character and do a rough sketch for the pose. When doing the pose I keep it lose within the strokes and adjust accordingly to what fit most. I want him to hold a gun and have an ice base to stand on. I absolutely love the pose here and I continue to the next step.
The second image is where I do the clean line art. Like a tracing paper I add another layer on top of the rough sketch while decreasing the opacity of it. That way I could do better line quality on top of it. Also I could color the line art that would be at the last part but here since ice is somewhat color blue I just leave it like that.

In here, I added the base color of every parts of the character. I did it in one layer so that it would not be very confusing to me later on.
Base colors are basically flat colors. The main color of the object without any light or shadow.
The next image here are base colors of the ice spikes.

Lastly for the base color of the ice he is standing on.

Then I created the background with some random shape on a gradient color.
Followed by adding a stripe line of lighter color blue.

Then some white lines and dots for the design.
✨✨✨
In here I put shining highlights on the ice materials.
✨✨✨
Then that is where I focus on the character by adding a shadow layer. This time it is just a normal mode unlike my usual using multiply blending mode on the shadows. I color pick on the base color and slightly adjust the darkness of the color.

Final Artwork
Final step to my process is adding color the line art. It adds a bit of style to it. I also add some shine light to his eyes and nose.😁
