How is everybody?
I hope everyone is enjoying the weekend. Today was not totally a good day for me as I received bad news. A bit of a letdown but I know everything will be okay and will fall to the right places.
I just cheered myself up by eating sugary pastries, and an extra push to finish this art.
This fan art is inspired by this version of Light Healer.
Art Process
The angle was challenging so, I went ahead and looked for a similar one on Pinterest. I wanted the camera angle to come from the top as if the character was holding it. The expression was also copied from the original art. I used a thin pencil-textured lineart.
Next, fill the spaces with the base color. I thought of choosing the darker shade. I then added another layer on top for the cell shadow. I used multiply mode and blur mode to achieve the result that I wanted.
I then added the shine and backlights using a cell pencil brush. I chose a green background for the football field. I added more airbrush of glow on the hair and on the face.
Final Art
Using a sparkle pen, I just randomly added some nuances around the character. The two white stripes added more detail to the ground that looked like a football field, hehe. Finally, adding the texture filter.
