Hello everyone, this write up will summarize my experience for the past few days playing a pokemon-like game, which is Chainmonsters.
The game is a 3D role playing game where you, the character roams the land in search of loot, monsters to battle and daily quests (for now). The area that is currently open is actually rather small, and the "land" to explore will be expanded when the game enters later phases.
Currently the game is in closed beta which can be accessed by buying the NFTs from the Marketplace
https://chainmonsters.com/marketplace/offers?reward=45
This phase will end on April 15th and all game progress will be saved. After this date, the game will transition into Open Beta but in this phase your game progress will not be saved.
Graphics
Graphics are great, similar to Pokemon-Go
That's me standing on the tent!
Game Play... (at the moment)
At the moment in closed beta, after collecting the chest all over the lands, collecting pieces of plants or coins, those will no longer regenerate.
A look at my inventory:
There are various item in game, some are meant as gears for monsters, some are like Pokeballs. In this game those are called charges, and you utilize charges to replicate monsters.
Well after spending the most of the first day exploring the lands and collecting chests and items, the day to day activity is mostly doing the 3 daily quests.
For example:
Completion of the daily quests rewards you with XP (for the Season Pass) and Coins. Coins can be used to purchase charges, or to unlock the monster potential. I basically need 20,000 coins to unlock my monster from level 10 to up to level 20.
The XP will lead to rewards in the Season Pass, some are Nfts, some are free, while the most will be unlocked only when you purchased the Season Pass.
Well 1000 Diamonds will costs around 15 USD
Battle Samples
The game have monster that are classed into different elements for example Fire, earth, dendro (leaf), Air, electric and water,
In this battle here, my lvl 10 monsters shall be going against level 17-18 monster.
One of my monster was killed, but for each battle we can use up to 4 of our monsters.
Verdict
The game is fun, the graphic is nice. Though at the moment the game can be boring as there are a lot of features or game areas that are not unlocked yet in this phase, it would be much more fun in the future. For now the feature we have will be replicating monsters, levelling them, collecting loot, battling other players and battling monsters. The storyline is also quite short from a brief intro and then to the camp for the daily quests.
This game although is NFT-based does not have a very heavy Play 2 Earn flavor I would say. As the developers stress usually on Game play first and p2e second.
I will still continue playing it daily to get more coins to unlock the level 10 cap for one of my monsters, and might probably get the Season pass to collect all the items + NFTs before the season finishes. With the current double XP I should be on track to finish tier 50 season rewards if I play daily (or miss just a few)
