friends and followers of this column and our wonderful #Holos&Lotus community. How have you been the week? Did you think about diversity? I hope that it has been so and, better still, that they have lived it.
Today I bring you a less controversial topic, but equally present in everyday life. It is about the need to rest, that we all have, but that sometimes we refuse to accept because we give priority to other things.
It is true that there are emergency criteria that make it necessary to postpone and even skip rest for one or more days, even to stop sleeping. Watching over the fever of a sick child makes rest unthinkable, I say this as a mother. One feels essential, but if we have reliable support, delegating is a healthy behavior that we must learn to use; because staying lucid is something very important in emergencies and sleep deprivation takes away our vivacity of thought.
When you sleep you rest, but there are other breaks that we need, such as interrupting tasks so as not to get bored and make mistakes, for that we have a coffee or talk for a few minutes with a co-worker or we just stand up and look out the window.
Currently, when many of us work with a computer, the health suggestions are: get up at least every hour, relax your eyes and do a few minutes of stretching. It is also recommended to take care of your posture when working.
In the same way that sleeping like a baby makes us wake up refreshed and that a break from work allows us to look with new eyes at the work we are doing, the weekend breaks, changing the environment or enjoying "a different day at home" are vitamins that revitalize us and distance us from work stress, so damaging to performance.
I confess that when I was younger I punished myself. More than once I fell asleep on the work table or on the computer because I dictated not to stop until the task was finished. And I didn't stop, but I wasted a lot of time and ended up exhausted by the excessive effort that was required of me. I have learned a lot since then, creativity is not punished. It is drawn in, letting the mind free itself and wander its own paths. The liberating break from the demand renews the creative presence and shows me new "in sight"
Vacations are an opportunity to rest physically, mentally and emotionally; to get to know other places, cultures and people, they can also give us the opportunity for revival and spiritual growth. It depends on the search and needs of each person; But even when we work on our own, vacations must be considered as a mandatory holiday, because we still have routines and tensions as a result of work.
Vacations are much more than stopping going to work, it is shaking off stress, thinking about other things, breaking with routines and sharing more with the people you love (or getting away from those who stress you). For me, vacations are also getting up late and forgetting about the clock, unless I took a guided tour and have to adapt to group routines.
Regardless of the place chosen for the vacations or the means of transport used, during these it is important to break routines, do different things; perhaps abandon some habits and start others. If the economy demands it or there are circumstances that make it necessary to spend the holidays at home, rest and renewal are still possible. The Internet is a great tool for virtual trips, as it offers many documentaries that can be enjoyed in the company of family and friends or in the perfect company of a partner. Also visit nearby places that we have never been due to lack of time.
Por favor, recuerden:
(1)Las vacaciones son para descansar no deben ser un motivo más de estrés.
(2)No se compliquen la vida, elijan vivir en "modo fácil"( según, @damarysvibra)
